Democrats Forced Franken Out To Ramp Up Their Strategy To Bring Down Trump
Fox Nws ^ | 12-8-2017 | John Fund

Posted on 12/08/2017 6:22:11 AM PST by blam

In the comedy movie “Anchorman,” comedian Will Farrell advises his TV audience to “stay classy.” On Thursday, former “Saturday Night Live” comedian Al Franken didn’t follow that advice and resigned from the U.S. Senate in a particularly classless way.

Even after eight women told reporters that the Minnesota Democrat had groped or forcibly kissed them, Franken denied he had done anything wrong.

Franken said from the Senate floor that “some of the allegations are simply not true” and that he remembered other accusations differently. He then tried to wrap himself in a feminist flag by vowing he had always been a “champion of women” and saying “I respect women. I don’t respect men who don’t.”

Nonetheless, Franken announced he would resign from the Senate seat he’d held for eight years in coming weeks because he couldn’t defend himself before the Ethics Committee and at the same time focus on being a senator.

Pardon me for saying it, but that’s horsepucky.

Political observers say the speed with which Democrats forced Franken and Michigan Democratic Rep. John Conyers, the longest-serving member of Congress, to resign over sexual misconduct allegations is breathtaking.

Franken said earlier that he was confident he could ride out the Ethics Committee probe of his pre-Senate behavior and seek forgiveness from the voters. What forced him into his sudden departure was the decision by his party’s leadership to sacrifice him so they could spend the next year before the midterm elections painting Republicans as waging a “war on women.”

"Al Franken ... resigned from the U.S. Senate..."

When exactly did he resign? Franken has not resigned, and may not do so.

The d’rats are so obvious in their strategy with Franken ... it will not work because BJ Clinton did not resign and there was evidence. President Clinton set the precedent!!

Franken isn’t officially ‘OUT’ yet. I’m guessing if Moore is elected to the Senate, Franken will decide to stay in.

Very possible. Franken’s angry and arrogant opus didn’t have a scintilla of contrition or humility. He called his acusers liars and said he would have been exonerated had the senate ethics committee investigated him. His opus was nasty, bitter and vindictive, just like perv Al himself.

But the Rats forced him out because they knew the EIGHT accusers were just the tip of the iceberg. Plus there was an actual photograph of perv Al sexually assaulting a sleeping woman!!!

This, Al Franken, will be your lasting legacy: you are the comedian who became a joke.

If you fail to resign “in a few weeks”, you will be a joke that fell flat.

“This is a head fake.”

Perhaos. Maybe Franken had had enough of the DC bull shit beforeehand and had already decided to retire. Took one for the team on the way out to facilitate the grander scheme.

I believe the criminal fraud said he “would” resign in the future. He is an acknowledged liar...so, do you believe him?

Nap? More like narcolepsy.

All of these libs getting caught playing around is not being done to get them. It is being done to cover something else in the media that they are more afraid of.

Oh, Franken didn’t say he is through. He said he would be resigning in the next few months. He can retract his quitting statement any time he wants. And I’ll bet he does if Moore wins so he can say character has nothing to do with it. Heard that one before?

Of course he can back out of the verbal claim he would be retiring "in the coming weeks".

"In the coming weeks" could mean anything from two weeks from now or whenever.

He's no obligated to go along with the democRAT leadership wanting him to leave.

I don't think he will leave. He's not 88 and old like Conyers. He will stay to be a thorn in everyone's side, both democRATS and the Republicans. He's a loyal Uniparty kind-of-guy.

Franken hasn’t left. He only said he is going to leave. Watch and learn how a lying liar lies.

First off it had no chance of success because their analogy did not work; but more importantly Nelson has just stuck a pin in that stupid balloon. End of story.

I don't take the word of any Democrat. Franken will leave when he's forced to, and not a minute sooner.

I think this is a McConnell-endorsed scheme.

Why wait for "the coming weeks" for Franken to take his time about resigning? CNN is reporting that 32 Democrat Senators are calling for Al Franken to resign, so Franken's expulsion is a sure thing.

McConnell can force the expulsion vote on Franken now; he doesn't have to wait for the outcome of the Alabama election. But McConnell won't do it now. He will wait until it best fits HIS needs, instead of controlling the media news cycle for Republicans by doing it today.

And McConnell's need is to have leverage to force Moore out after he wins in Alabama. Therefore, McConnell will wait until then for Franken to resign, so he can demand a "bipartisan" purge in the Senate. If Franken goes now, the pressure is reduced on Moore after he wins next week. If McConnell ties Moore's expulsion vote to Franken's vote and schedules them for the same day, that will put enormous pressure on the other Republican Senators to vote for Moore's ouster after Franken's.

I have a theory about the entertainment elite; they feel guilty about how easily they earned a lot of money so to sooth their guilt they take up a cause.

Franken alone won’t get it done. The Dems need to get rid of at least a dozen of their groping Senators to put the proper amount of pressure on the President. Heck, maybe 20.

IOW, he hasn't resigned, or apologized, or even faced the Ethics Committee. He should be dragged out and drowned in the reflecting pool, see him laugh that one off.
