Sen. Al Franken apologized on Thursday amid allegations that the Minnesota Democrat had groped women at campaign events— admitting that he “crossed a line” in some instances when embracing constituents.
The Minnesota Democrat, accused by four women of creepily touching them, issued his most detailed statement yet in explaining how he made such unwanted contact.
“I’ve met tens of thousands of people and taken thousands of photographs, often in crowded and chaotic situations. I’m a warm person; I hug people,” according to Franken.
“I’ve learned from recent stories that in some of those encounters, I crossed a line for some women — and I know that any number is too many. Some women have found my greetings or embraces for a hug or photo inappropriate, and I respect their feelings about that.”
Franken has yet to grant a formal interview to any reporter, since groping allegations were made against him.
“I’ve thought a lot in recent days about how that could happen, and recognize that I need to be much more careful and sensitive in these situations,” according to his statement.
“I feel terribly that I’ve made some women feel badly and for that I am so sorry, and I want to make sure that never happens again. “
The former “Saturday Night Live” funnyman vowed to win back trust of his state, implying he’s not stepping down from the seat he’s held for 2 terms.
“And let me say again to Minnesotans that I’m sorry for putting them through this and I’m committed to regaining their trust,” Franken said.

Sounds like he's in denial. Or lying. Either way, I can't understand how democrats are not calling for his resignation.
The script will be, "Well, we have really been too easy on Franken, so all news people and other dems repeat after me: Al Franken must resign."
He resigns.
Next scene, "Well, Franken resigned, now it's time for Trump to resign."

He called for Moore to resign, he should take his own advice.

Well Al, grabbing someone’s boobs or their behind is not quite the same as a simple “hug”. Time for you to back to school for “hugging instructions”, right after you resign from office you pervert.
I don’t think Franken crossed the line. He is simply a horny toad who does not have the capacity to be a Senator.

Franken needs to go to Hollywood and become a porn producer or something like that.
Same today, if a woman likes you, the line is close, if she doesn’t, the line is far. I remember reaching past a woman to open the door for her...she glared at me and said..”do you think I can’t do that by myself?” It all got totally rediculous. Then women decided to be women again and every thing settled down. Now here it comes again.
I wish people would start distinguishing between a hug and rape. It gives hugs a bad rep and excuses rape. “Rape” will become as useless a term as “racist” and lose meaning.
