Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a Person of the Year, defined as a person (or people) who has had the most influence over the news in the last 12 months.
In 2016, the Person of the Year was Donald J. Trump, who upended the political world after unexpectedly defeating his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton to become the President of the United States. The year before, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named Person of the Year after she led Europe through a series of political and economic crises.
Many of 2017s biggest headlines were a reflection of the year that preceded it. After President Trump was inaugurated in January, both the U.S. and the world began adjusting to a new administration and a new President who wanted to undo much of his predecessors legacy, whether that meant withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement or working to revamp the nations healthcare system. Warnings from the intelligence community that Russia was attempting to wage an interference campaign in the 2016 election escalated into a major investigation helmed by former FBI Director Robert Mueller; the inquiry has already resulted in indictments against two former Trump campaign officials. In another major news story of 2017, sexual harassment and misconduct allegations against powerful figures like Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein and comedian Louis C.K. sparked a long overdue conversation about the treatment of women in the workplace.
TIMEs editors ultimately have jurisdiction over who is deemed Person of the Year but the reader plays an important role. TIMEs annual Person of the Year poll provides the editors a window into who you think most shaped 2017. This is your chance to cast your vote for who you think had the biggest influence over the news.

Slanderous to claim she would have had anything to do with that scumbag.
Thanks. Its worth noting he is 1) male 2) Woody Allen’s son. Adds to the drama, took someone like him to be brave and break the silence.
According to Wikipedia:
Cochrane was born in 2030, according to Star Trek: First Contact.
Much like Obama’s Nobel Peace prize. Purely political carrot to lead the progressives forward.
5 to 1 it goes to Colin Kapernick.
4 to 1 it goes to Jeff Bezos.
3 to 1 it goes to Kim Jong UN.
2 to 1 it goes to the trio of McCain, Flake, Corker.
Trump ahead with 26%.
Kind of fun.
All crap choices except Trump and Putin.
I’d put Putin before most of the other choices.
I have to laugh though, all their lefty, PC idols are taking a beating
I don’t understand why Steve Bannon isn’t more popular at Free Republic. Too many Rushbots I guess.
Senator Stuart Smalley is probably as good as who they will pick.
Good thing it doesn’t matter as no one reads Time anyway.
Trump was last year IIRC
And I don’t have to hear hildebeast give the state of the union. I can drink again.
Hes got some edge and his true impact is imperfectly understood.
Trump.
But you know the short list is Putin, Kaeperdick, Hillary, and Obama.
One of them gets it.
Pamela Harriman, the Woman who made Bill Clinton President
http://www.anusha.com/pamela-h.htm
Behind every great man there is a woman and what is often overlooked is that the woman behind Bill Clinton was Pamela Harriman.
Pamela Harriman was married three times to rich and famous men. Two of them died and left her all of their money. This gave her the wealth and power she needed to bankroll the future president.
Born Pamela Digby, her first husband was the son of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. He was a heavy drinker and that marriage ended in divorce.
Next, she married famous Broadway producer Leland Hayward, who produced “The Sound of Music”.
After he died, she married Averell Harriman, then 79 years old, who was a former New York governor and Ambassador to Britain and the Soviet Union, and a former candidate for President of the United States. His family owned Brown Brothers Harriman, America’s leading investment banking and brokerage firm.
Pamela Harriman obviously took good care of her men, and when he died she got every dime.
Always a supporter of liberal causes, she spoke at the 1984 Democratic National Convention, but her candidate lost. Pamela Harriman then bankrolled young Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign. She raised $12 million for him. After Clinton was elected, any time she wanted to see him, she called him up and he came right over to her house in Georgetown.
Clinton appointed her as US Ambassador to France, where she died on February 5, 1997 at the age of 76. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage she suffered while swimming in the Embassy swimming poll.
See post 95.
So, there you have it!
Dear editors of TIME: Sell the magazine and go away. You’ve long ago become irrelevant.
Bannon would be good too, but a far distant 2nd compared to Trump. Emma Stone? I have to admit my first response was, “Who’s that?” I don’t do movies much, so didn’t know her.
To me the Person of the Year is who has made the biggest contribution to mankind, the US, the world - a real game changer type of person. Some actress. . not so much, I don’t care how good she is.
It was fun to take the poll and easy. Not cluttered.
The people they selected were really dumb.
