A startling and honestly distressing view is beginning to receive serious consideration in both academic and popular discussions of climate change ethics. According to this view, having a child is a major contributor to climate change. The logical takeaway here is that everyone on Earth ought to consider having fewer children.
Although culturally controversial, the scientific half of this position is fairly well-established. Several years ago, scientists showed that having a child, especially for the world’s wealthy, is one of the worst things you can do for the environment. That data was recycled this past summer in a paper showing that none of the activities most likely to reduce individuals’ carbon footprints are widely discussed.

Do these geniuses have no notion of their own selfish continuing strain on Mother Gaia? Have they no cliffs nearby?
We simply convince everyone with an IQ of lower than, say, 85, to voluntarily walk into a government run booth. There is a bright flash, and a pile of ashes. It's called eugenics.
Democrats and their various voting blocks will sorta take it in the shorts, but I'm sure they will understand, since it's for the Common Good. We could tag them as "Anti-Gaia".
We could throw in SAT scores, and ACT scores along with ASVAB, sort of a combination deal, and convince all the college students that the booth is a "safe space". Anyone that stupid would be a prime candidate...

All kidding aside. Just decades ago such amoral philosophy would not have seen the light of day in any mainstream publication or news outlet. It would be considered akin to praising the Nazis for their foresight in reducing Germany’s post WWII economic burden by a bold plan of population resettlement and eradication of certain persons during the war years.
Liberals should stop having children.

The BBC Dr. Who spin off “Torchwood” broached that topic. The show message was how horrible that decision was but I thought it was making the best of a list of horrible choices.

The implications that the “wealthy”, i.e. anyone in the first world, use much more resources than people in turd world countries.

Interesting that they use the word “environment”.
“Environment” means “a place for life to live”. If no one lives there, it is an ecosystem, not an environment.
Perhaps because we live longer. It could also be because we have more of those resources at our disposal and within our means. Both are a result of a higher standard of living. You would think that a good thing, wouldn’t you? But not Liberals. Oh how they long for the good old days of dung fires, dung huts, and dung dinners.
