Wolfgang Schäuble, who is due to become the next president of Germanys lower house of parliament, on Saturday made his last appearance at the annual conference of the International Monetary Fund as Germanys finance minister.
During his speech, Schäuble reiterated his warnings against protectionist economic policies and appealed for closer trade cooperation among countries. We should all be worried about the weak growth of global trade and the increasing anti-free trade rhetoric, he said. We need more openness rather than less. [ ]
Schäuble, the chairman of the G20 finance group this year, said he believed the backlash against globalization was giving way to a greater understanding that the path toward rising prosperity for all depends on greater cooperation among countries.
Schäuble did not refer directly to US President Donald Trump and his America First policy during the speech.

Commie talk.
As for me I don't give f*** about the citizens of other countries, I only care about my fellow Americans and their prosperity.
Free Traitors and gloBULList can KMA.
Is he worried that America will hurt itself?
Or is he worried that America will hurt the EU?
The answer is obvious.
Trump pursues Economic Nationalism because it is good for the US. Schäuble warns against Economic Nationalism because it will show the EU as a house of cards.
It’s not protectionism. We should buy whatever benefits American interests. If American consumers want a product that has a unique heritage and excellent quality from another country, we’ll buy it from that country. Bananas are a good example. Another might be Lederhosen.
;-)
My next car will either be Japanese or a Jaguar.
Trump should grant them Most Annoying Nation status.
When America is health financially, economically, socially and spiritually, the rest of the world is in a better place. We are the adults in a plane at 30,000 ft that has just lost cabin pressure and the oxygen masks have dropped from the ceiling. We’re putting on our oxygen masks first................
Meanwhile, his country would not have gotten where it was in the EU without being strongly economically nationalist.
I’d post a picture of a B-17 taking flak as metaphor for Trump being over the target but I am too tired.
My sister has a 2005 Jetta (five-cylinder) and the thing has been nickel-and-diming her for quite a while.
Commie talk is right......the Germans have been very unfortunate for centuries. They have been run by shady socialists. It is time for the ancient German tribes to rise up against them.
Marx was German.
I have a 2012 Jetta Sportwagen and it's been perfect. At 80,000 miles the brakes are still good. Not to mention, it runs like a bat out of hell-really!
That has the five-cylinder too?
She’s up to 180K on her car. Me, I’m stuck with a 1.8 Corolla from 07 (assembled in USA), but I’m up to 210K and no problems like she’s experienced.
Yeah, mine has the 2.5L 5 cylinder with a 6-speed transmission. Shifts automatically or shift your own. 80,000 miles-not new but not really a lot these days either.

Will This One Do?
Speaking as a Jaguar fan... skip the current crop of Jaguars. They’ve been decontenting and downgrading like mad lately and the quality has gone downhill (again.). The XE is an embarrassment, the F-Type is a bad value, etc., etc.
Look at the Japanese, Koreans or Ford.
That must be the only good one they ever made.
[We should all be worried about the weak growth of global trade and the increasing anti-free trade rhetoric, he said.]
