THR's awards columnist Scott Feinberg assesses the landscape of a post-Harvey Academy.
In the wake of a slew of allegations of sexual harassment, assault and rape that have emerged over the last 10 days, Harvey Weinstein has been expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization that hosts and votes for the Oscars, with which he was virtually synonymous throughout his four decades in the business. Since its founding in 1927, the Academy has only previously expelled one other member: Carmine Caridi, an actor who violated policy against loaning out screeners.
Following complaints against Weinstein by dozens of women, calls for his expulsion by many Academy members (including Weinstein's own brother and business partner) and petitions signed by thousands from the general public, today's verdict seemed all but inevitable. Nobody, with the possible exceptions of Lindsay Lohan (who voiced some sympathy for the mogul) and Weinstein himself, is shedding any tears over this latest twist in a saga that has rocked Hollywood, along with the rest of the country.
Now, though, the Academy will face more difficult decisions: how to deal with the not inconsiderable number of others among its membership of 8,427 who have checkered pasts of their own and who now are being targeted by those who want to purge the industry of sexual predators.

How is the Film Actors Guild doin’?
Weinstein is a sacrificial lamb. The pedophilia dam was about to break and Hellwood needed someone to take the fall.
The problem in taking a stand is it makes them accountable for the actions of all of their members (past and present) who’s sins they’ve long overlooked or buried.
Treasonous Communist B*tch Jane Fonda is still a member?
Half their membership if they are going to be looking at criminal and moral behavior.
Wonder if Harvey will threaten to spill the beans.
Sing, Little Birdie Harvey! SING!
I’m not comfortable with this. Regardless how reprehensible the behavior is, purging people for their personal lives is a bad direction. It’s what’s being done to history. This guy is a creep, I have no doubt. That doesn’t change his contributions to film making. What it should change is how Hollywood goes forward.
Paging Cory Feldman.
Harvey did what he did in his professional career. Blacklisting actresses who didn’t let him masturbate for them or who didn’t wear his wife’s designs to awards shows.
Now consider all of the other blacklists currently in Hollywood against those who are Christian as opposed to Scientologist or Conservative as opposed to Moonbat Communist.
If they are going to purge producers and directors from f***ing their lead actresses then Robert Rodriguez, Warren Beatty, and others must likewise be purged from the ranks.
Harvey Weinstein will be producing movies within 18 months, and will win an Oscar (to a standing ovation) within three years.
As far as smoking out all the others? Don’t be ridiculous.
They should go down hard.
This is pure Alynsky applied against the left.
Make them follow their own rules!
Where does the purging end?
"Democrats are clearly pro-misogyny in that they are wasting time on ammunition legislation while sexual predators roam Hollywood. Even Hillary Clinton acknowledged that the Oval Office has seen a sexual predator - her husband.
The Republican leadership asks the Democrats to reject their harboring of anti-woman fundraisers, and join us as we announce the start of hearings on this poisonous atmosphere in Hollywood, with an eye toward regulating studios and actors and actresses as a public good."
In “Wild In The Streets” voting was lowered to 14 and a messianic rock star was elected President. The adults were put in concentration camps and given LSD to wig them out daily.
At the end of the story, 10 year olds want the “grown ups” buried.

what if HW cops a plea and starts naming names? get the popcorn ready.
Drain that Swamp!
I don’t get it and am SICK TO DEATH of hearing them repeat ad infinitum this stupid story. They are diverting attention from what they are really doing: Destroying our country, destroying faith in Christ, to take over the world and money. Than they will get rid of the useless eaters.
Hasn’t everyone always known that virtually every actress and actor has to undergo sexual abuse in order to be able to get work?
I don’t watch the news but my husband does and it is the only topic discussed. It’s like a repeating nightmare.
Are Roman Polanski and Woody Allen still members?

It would be a simpler solution to redesign the Oscar statue so that it has its pants down around its ankles.
