Have a tattoo? If the answer is yes, its more likely youre unemployed or completely out of the labor force. On average, your income is lower. Youre more probably a smoker, use illegal drugs, engage in risky sexual behavior, have been a victim of crime, and have been incarcerated for committing crime yourself.

As regards tats in general, it’s mostly a matter of taste, I guess, but I am curious about one thing. I’ve seen pics of very attractive women with, for example, one limb almost entirely covered in ink, in generally very bright colors and often elaborate designs - what do those things look like when they get old and their skin gets all wrinkly and baggy and such?
I see no letup in taps, but I don’t go to any high class places—some may have already guessed that!
Even older ladies, guys, its, whatever—who knows???
Tats to the gills!
Many of these way senior to me...and I remember PH !!!!!

My 30+ old daughters have tattoos. I abhor them. My older daughter is an RN who is working on her BS. My younger daughter has an MBA and a very responsible job with a large company.
My son has promised to not get a tattoo until after I die.
When hiring one thing that always ruled a candidate out for me was a tattoo that would be visible in scrubs or in business attire. It wasn't official hospital policy but it was *my* policy. We had a serious mission to accomplish and a strong reputation to protect.
Yes,I know I'll get slammed for this...
“you’re”
I’m reading a whole bunch of posts saying, “I have tattoos and am normal.” The study examines a statistically significant sample and finds that those with tattoos are more likely to experience a group of outcomes and behaviors, all bad.
The study doesn’t say everyone with a tattoo is a loser, just that they are more likely to be losers. I don’t think we needed a study to determine that, but having the numbers is interesting nonetheless.
That’s what hacks me off. They’re on welfare, getting money from us poor taxpayers, but they’ve got $ to blow on expensive tattoos. (Not to mention cigarettes and booze.)
I used to work for a firm that had a similar policy.
Some of the women had tattoos in places that were only visible when they wore dresses or skirts. They were told in no uncertain terms to always keep them covered when at work.
It really depends on the field you are in AND the level you are working at. What might be tolerated for a clerical person would not be for someone in a professional or managerial role.
What? That doesn’t even make sense.
This discussion is about how people with those stupid things are viewed in the professional world.
Have the most unkept house you want, but dont think I’m required to look at it and not see you as a slob.
If some lady walked up to you with green hair and dyed pink arm pits, are you making any negative judgement calls, or are you wondering if she’s really a brilliant anthropologist?
Make THAT Tats vice taps.!
“Frankly, the loser that wrote the article has no room to talk about looks, just look at him, he is butt ugly!”
So you agree with his points. Now you finally get it.
People form opinions and draw conclusions about us based, in part, on the choices we make regarding our appearance. Sometimes the conclusions are in error. For example, one may see an immodestly-dressed girl and conclude that she is promiscuous, when she is not. An employer may believe that an applicant without tattoos is more likely to show up on time, sober, and not steal. Due to the coincidence of tattoos with drug use and prison, this is not an unreasonable belief, although it may be inaccurate in the individual case.
As many comments have observed, tattoos are more common and more admired by younger people. That fact could explain some of the correlation of tattoos with lower incomes, because younger people, on average, have lower incomes than older ones.
Okay - I’m sorry is asked
Tats have ruined porn.
I would never hire someone with a visible tattoo. It shows a lack of judgment. It’s a stupid fad that only stupid people get into. It’s a permanent pet rock around your neck.
Military tattoos for those who serve, get a pass from me. Other than that.....”Here’s your sign.”
I once interviewed a person with piercings on his face. I can tell you right away when I first saw him, he wasn’t going to get the job. I went through the formality of the interview, but right afterwards, that resume went right into the shredder.
