I used to work for a firm that had a similar policy.

Some of the women had tattoos in places that were only visible when they wore dresses or skirts. They were told in no uncertain terms to always keep them covered when at work.

It really depends on the field you are in AND the level you are working at. What might be tolerated for a clerical person would not be for someone in a professional or managerial role.

To me the bottom line is that not all people with tattoos are losers,just as surely as not all moslems are terrorists.But it's proven time and time again that a *very* noticeable percentage are (both losers and terrorists) and why take a chance?
