With ‘good woman,’ did Donald Trump just help Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp get reelected
Washington Post ^ | September 6, 2017

This is not a story you'd expect to read in 2017, but it happened: President Trump went to North Dakota on Wednesday and praised its Democratic senator, who is up for reelection next year, as a “good woman."

"Come on up, senator," Trump told a crowd at an oil refinery in Mandan, as he had a called up some of the state's elected officials, all of them Republican, save Sen. Heidi Heitkamp. "These are great people. They work hard. They’re for you 100 percent."

“He went on: “And we just want their support, because we need support. You see that with what’s happening in Congress. Nobody can get anything through Congress. We need support, so thank you, senator. Senator Heitkamp. Everyone’s saying: What’s she doing up here? But I’ll tell you what: Good woman, and I think we’ll have your support — I hope we’ll have your support. And thank you very much, senator. Thank you for coming up.”

Looks like an ominous threat “I hope we’ll have your support.”

Just like Luther Strange was basking in his ‘support’.

So , unlike McCaskill D- MO , Trump thinks he can sway Heitkamp and later call for her defeat next year?

Trump might as well support Heitkamp. The Republicans in the Senate have done him no favors. Not that it would happen, but I would not be flabbergasted if the President switched political parties or at least resigned from the GOP as an independent. It is a Gary Larson world we live in.

Nope, he is just going to let her beat herself if she does play footsie because her base will pull an AntiFA on her. Desperate people do desperate things and Trump is setting up both sides because they are both doing everything in the world to stop him. With the Drmocraps, it is with confirmations because they have no sway of legislation other than to delay and filibuster.

My (admittedly outlier) thought is that he should stay in the Republican Party. He could announce he isn’t running for re-election and would support whichever candidates did the most to Make America Great Again. Vulnerable candidates, both political parties, would either support President Trump’s initiatives or face the wrath of Deplorable voters.

The way the republican senate has been treating him?
The do nothing leadership in the house and senate?

The Republican Party is dead ..... let’s form a ‘conservative party’ with some balls.

A Democrat from North Dakota is like a Republican in most Southern states, and doubtless far more conservative than her GOPe female ilk in the Northeast.

Maybe she'll switch parties—or maybe President Trump is still sending a message to the GOPe Congress that he's sick and tired of their obstruction of their own party's President.

Anyone who thinks the President Trump is just bungling through these statements naive, to say the least. The GOPe better watch their a$$es, because the times they are a-changin', come 2018. Primary challenges galore, people changing parties (like the WV governor), and so on.

The Revolution is on, and those who choose to stand on the sidelines and obstruct—especially GOPe Swamp Things without an ounce of loyalty or appreciation for the ekectoral benefits that the President provided last November.

President Trump is necessarily taking the long view—and it's a two-term view—with respect to #MAGA and the corrupt Uniparty Swamp. Both #DrainTheSwamp and #MAGA will fail if some of these corrupt Congressional pukes aren't replaced with new, bold blood—statesmen who are willing to think outside the crooked globalist establishment box.

President Donald J. Trump is a Revolutionary in the truest sense of the word, and it's up to us—his army of deplorables—to provide our blood, sweat, tears, and loyalty to ensure that this movement succeeds.

No man is an island. President Trump can't do it alone, and he's not getting much help from the DC Swamp—including that cowardly majority composed of members of his own party!

God Bless President Trump and use him as an instrument of His Divine will. This is the greatest opportunity that has been afforded to the American people in the post-Civil War era, and if we squander it, it'll probably be another 150 years before we get another chance—if ever...

Senator Manchin never switched to Republican. Perhaps you are thinking of the Governor of West Virginia.

President Trump should tell and list who the pro-Trump politicians/candidates are and who the anti-Trump politicians/candidates are. Also, that would be a good way of separating the RINO Republicans from the Conservative Republicans, and it would make much more of the general public aware of who they are, prior to the primaries and general elections.

Trump is a great president. He wants to get things done, and can afford to appear magnanimous.

If you do not know now,m you never will. Trump is a MAster of the Dog and Pony show of politics.

Good for President Trump!

Nope. Heitkamp rates only 9% on the Heritage Action scorecard. Zero on Right to Life, 100% pro-abort, etc..

If she is,by chance, another Zell Miller then it's understandable why Trump might be making positive comments about her.

I would say outstanding.

He got the hurricane money and took the debt ceiling off the table to create time to get the important fish fried.

Win win is actually OK.
