While thoughts and prayers are with our Texas FRiends and neighbors, we are at the peak of the Atlantic Tropical Storm season. Hurricane Irma continues its trek from Cape Verde across the pond and toward the Hebert Box (see below). People with interests in the Southeastern U.S. and Gulf of Mexico should be alert to the forecast path updates for this powerful storm. It is important to note that the average NHC track errors are about 175 and 225 statute miles at days 4 and 5, respectively.
Hurricane Irma originally had a small wind field. In the past 24 hours, however, the wind field has expanded with hurriance force winds up to 40 miles from the center, and tropical storm force winds up to 140 miles from the storm center.
FL Governor Rick Scott reminds Floridians: Families should take time today to make sure you have a disaster plan and fully-stocked Disaster Supply Kit. Florida residents from West Palm Beach to Tampa Bay are heeding the alert. Store shelves are emptying of bottled water.

For many, evacuation is the best option, however, I’ll be at work the next day, if roads are navigable, for to the nature of my job. Additionally, once you evacuate, you’re blend normally not allowed back home “for your safety”, yet leave your home vulnerable to the vultures that do not evacuate and help themselves to your home, valuables, and provisions. The elderly and infirm should evacuate if they are unable to ensure the challenges of the storm and hardships certain to follow. History has our neighborhood coming together as a community, guarding the area, feeding others and helping all.
Stay safe
I keep loaves of bread in my freezer. Bread will stay good for a very long time being frozen. Thawed out, it’s always as fresh as when I bought them.
I’m evacuating, tonight from Fort Pierce. I saw the damage from Frances and Gene, back in 2004. Heading to Glen Mills, PA.
Sold the big boat in May, downsized to a 25.5’ Dusky. It’s in dry storage. I hope for the best. Everyone, please stay safe!

This guy does some deep digging and makes excellent graphics/gifs. It’s mostly over my head, but some of you will get it.
Our Florida home is boarded up......We are in North Carolina ( have been here a while)
Our immediate family are coming here if they need to.
That is a WOW. Very interesting graphical analysis but I wish he had slowed it down a bit — had to watch it five times to get it all.
Thanks for checking in. Safe travels to your PA destination!
Good that you are already out of the storm’s path. Wish us well down in FL.
It looks like a direct hit on Key West. A friend just posted pictures from his vacation there.
Where in Florida are you located, NN?
Tampa Bay
I probably will go to North Fl. around the Villages waiting to see. But South Dade may not take the hit the Keys takes and for those who need to get right back to the Keys it could work.
We are getting a re-entry sticker before they are all gone, only way to get back into the Keys.
I chatted to a guy who knew about the last storm of this size that hit the Keys in the 30’s,our island was under 5 feet of water, knocked the train off its tracks.
Thanks. Stay Safe!
I know who you mean can’t recall her name either.
I have seen pictures of that. Wasn’t that the Great Labor Day Hurricane?
As always, you have things well organized. Keep us updated with your destination plans.
Pretty amazing, isn’t it? Lots of talent out there.
I will be keeping close tabs on your opinion as I have dear friends in Apollo Beach.
Doesn’t look good.
Go bag is ready.
But, where to go is the question.
