North Korea openly threatens EMP attack for the first time, changing the game

BY ANTHONY FUREY, POSTMEDIA NETWORK

The news Sunday morning that North Korea had launched what appeared to be its sixth nuclear test and most powerful one to date is troubling enough.

But a statement from the rogue regime took things to a whole new level. The North said it had tested an H-bomb that was “a multi-functional thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can be detonated at high altitudes for super-powerful EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack according to strategic goals.”

This is the first time it has publicly mentioned its interest and ability in an EMP attack, a devastating weapon that could have catastrophic consequences for North America, the West and their closer neighbours.

An EMP attack, as I detail in my new book Pulse Attack, is a nuclear detonation that occurs in the atmosphere and creates a waveform that can take down the electrical grid below.

In the worst case scenario, this wouldn’t just shut off the power for minutes or hours, but weeks or even months, due to serious damage to transformer stations and other integral elements of our power infrastructure.

This wouldn’t just mean we couldn’t turn on our laptops and televisions; it would shut down our telecommunications, transportation, water systems, our ability to get food to cities and much more.

And how are you re-charging that ham radio after 5 days?

Excellent question! First off you don't leave the radio on. It's only on when you are actively trying to receive and/or send. There are several ways; one is battery packs about the size of a smart phone that will recharge the Ham radio and my cell phone if cell towers are up. I keep my 3 in Faraday bags. They will keep things charged for about a month. I do have a little generator that should work since there's no fancy circuitry in it. Little solar panels made for charging small items like cell phones and ham radios are readily available which I would keep in Faraday bag or cage. Also your car battery should be able to charge small batteries several times even if your car won't start.

Bear in mind we don't know how things will be affected. We don't know how much houses will blunt the pulse or maybe a garage. So many variables. Some people have houses with steel siding and roofing. Obviously they won't be air tight but it may be enough to insulate enough to prevent circuit boards from getting fried. That's the problem; we just don't know and it's not like we can test it without trashing all kinds of property. Then there are different levels of pulse. Again; another variable.

What do we think we know about NK’s ability to delivery a weapon capable of this? Do they have an ICBM that can reach far enough for it?

Probably not yet. Not sure how soon. It may come sooner than we think because I am starting to suspect they are now getting some outside help in their R&D.

Sure thing. This kit really has everything you would need with the exception of a magnetic antenna for your car. Unfortunately they sold out.

Even though you can get a Baofeng UV-5R for $25 ($29 now; prices are going up); I would highly recommend a better quality Baofeng or Yaesu. I currently have 3 Baofeng's and my favorite is what they are calling a 3rd gen UV-5R. It has a bit more power which helps with getting a clearer signal. The Nagoya 771 and a magnetic car antenna will help with reception depending if you're walking or in your vehicle. Here is a very inexpensive antenna from ebay. This portable antenna can be hung in a tree or from a flagpole as long as there's a few feet of rope that will insulate it from a steel flagpole that will give an extended range. For the price it's a good investment and can be taken with you if you need to bug out.

I have another post (241) here about charging it. I forgot to mention the USB cable to fit the charger.

This pack of Faraday bags will keep your radio, maybe a spare cell phone, and a laptop or two or tablet protected. My old laptop rarely gets used unless I travel so I just keep it in a bag.

If you choose to get one of the better, more durable, more expensive radios, like Yaesu; you will need to match up accessories to that product such as an extended antenna.

He will kill himself within days, most likely by shooting himself in the back of the head multiple times.

I believe that would be called Norkincide. 🇵🇭😀

“He has to poke his fat head out sometime. A great big target.”

And I don’t think DJT would have a problem winning this whack-a-mole war with the fat crazy f**k.

“Some of our “culture” is incapable of manning up. Clinton, Bush, Obama...”

It’s not even an issue of “manning up” because that implies they’d do something if they were brave enough. At least two of those people have overtly worked to destroy America, so any harm NoKo would do would fit in to their agenda.

On the flip side, starting an action which kills potentially millions, because someone may have the ability/will to do something they have only blustered about to date, would be its own disaster.

However, what if I prefer not to go to my grave right now?!?! Perhaps I want to enjoy retirement and my grandchildren...

I think we all do. I have a new kitten I'd like to raise.

We shall see what God has in store for us.

The Baofeng UV-5R can be had for as little as $25 through Amazon but there are better ones for those who have more discretionary spending available. Couple it with a taller better antenna and a Faraday Bag or make a Faraday cage out of tin trashcan and some cardboard. There are even roll up antennas you can hang from someplace high up to connect to your little hand held to get much better signals.

Great advice Boomer - thank you!

“Trump needs to have a serious discussion w China and Russia.”

There’s been plenty of discussion already. Time to turn NoKo into a wasteland of rubble and bodies with all the population annihilated. Or, if the CIA, etc., still has any power or effectiveness, go indercover there and take out the top dogs strategically.

It turns out that they had outside help with their rocket engine. So we cannot rule out that outside help also played a role in this sudden leap in their nuclear weapons .

Russia and Iran.

I have heard that some retired intelligence officers have said flat out that Iran and North Korea are directly working with one another. Iran gets the North to distract the West and possibly even go to war. Meanwhile, Iran and other Muslim states can act against Israel. And Russia is also actively involved in this mix.

I never considered the tunnel option but it makes sense. If Mexican drug cartels figured it out decades ago, so have the Kim Jong Whatevers.

...”Trump needs to have a serious discussion w China and Russia. They could control NK, and at this point they may be persuaded that it’s really time to do so.”...

Can we trust China and Russia not to calculate how they might benefit from standing back to let NC carry out an EMP? Do they not know that we, Canada, Mexico, etc., might have enough fire power left to cause them a lot of loss, as well. An EMP attack could be the end of most of civilization sending humans the way of the dinosaurs. I hate it when I begin to think about the consequences of this, but those who are drunk with power never stop, even if their own lives are at stake.
