North Korea openly threatens EMP attack for the first time, changing the game
BY ANTHONY FUREY, POSTMEDIA NETWORK
The news Sunday morning that North Korea had launched what appeared to be its sixth nuclear test and most powerful one to date is troubling enough.
But a statement from the rogue regime took things to a whole new level. The North said it had tested an H-bomb that was a multi-functional thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can be detonated at high altitudes for super-powerful EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack according to strategic goals.
This is the first time it has publicly mentioned its interest and ability in an EMP attack, a devastating weapon that could have catastrophic consequences for North America, the West and their closer neighbours.
An EMP attack, as I detail in my new book Pulse Attack, is a nuclear detonation that occurs in the atmosphere and creates a waveform that can take down the electrical grid below.
In the worst case scenario, this wouldnt just shut off the power for minutes or hours, but weeks or even months, due to serious damage to transformer stations and other integral elements of our power infrastructure.
This wouldnt just mean we couldnt turn on our laptops and televisions; it would shut down our telecommunications, transportation, water systems, our ability to get food to cities and much more.

Does this fat retarded munkfish really want to get de-molecularized at ten-thousand degrees in a nanosecond? Because that’s what he’s begging for.
Apocalypse Rising is a terrific, eye-opening book that goes into chilling detail what exactly would happen. It would plunge the country back to the 19th century - and for many years, if not permanently. The reason? Those thousands of burned out transformers are not even built in the US, and there would be no way to move them into position across the country.
Well thank you, Laplata—I appreciate your comments.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this...I know I trend on the very serious side of this issue...but others may not. Hopefully, they will come around or I am proven wrong.
I’d like to think that my concerns are ill-placed, the comedians are correct, and all this will blow over and the US will continue on a more normal trajectory.
I guess time will tell.
The Pig’s launch of ICBMs over Japan and setting off a H-bomb is a shot across the bow. This shot across the bow is not a warning shot. It is an act of war.
Well Uncle Miltie, there may be a lot of losses of life in Seoul. As I’ve said to some others here, this doesn’t get better in 2, 3, or 5 years. It only gets worse.
It will be only a matter of time before he has nukes aimed at Seoul.
Will Seoul be less at risk in a few years?
This is what guys like Kim are all about. They threaten and take life as long as they can get away with it.
His time is up. If mine is too, then so be it.
My nation will not be blackmailed by the likes of this nut-job.
You are right on. I think the estimates are that about 90% of Americans would be dead in about 6 months. And Mexico and Canada would also be badly hurt.
“Kim is begging to be attacked. Why?”
Never do what your enemy desires, for this reason alone - that he desires it - Napoleon
I agree. He keeps provoking — first firing missiles into the sea; then firing a missile over Japan; and now this bomb.
It seems he wants us to do something.
Don’t ride into the ambush when you know it’s an ambush...
The reason? Those thousands of burned out transformers are not even built in the US, and there would be no way to move them into position across the country

I agree with you 100%.
I had hoped that Newt Ginrich would whisper in President Trump’s ear on this issue as Ginrich understands the danger and vulnerability of our grid. Was hoping it would be in President Trump’s infrastructure plan and the Infrastructure legislation.
ACtually they’re built in China, with several years lead time. At least the big ones that would be the most likely to be destroyed in an EMP event.
Sorry. I misread the title, did not look at the article.
I knew what Vladivostok was, but not that it was near Norks.
Excellent writing - NOT!
You don’t “launch” a bomb test. You “test” the bomb, esp. when it is underground, unless the NORKS have developed a system of actually rocket launching a nuclear weapon through the rock. NOT.
Another bad example would be “he launched his new career by ...” instead of “he started his new career..”
As Peter Sellers might have said in “Murder by Death” or was it Peter Falk in “The Cheap Detective”, “Murdering the English language should be punishable by death”.
Yup.
sometimes the enemy is a maniac and not thinking like napoleon or maybe he thinks he IS napoleon
Too many have had a sex change both physically and politically/willpower-wise and can not man up any more.

Yes. Exactly.
#4. When No. Korea offers to sell an H bomb to Iran, they will ask, “You want Kimchee with that”?
We need to start the process to recognize Taiwan as a country at the same time we encourage Japan to build more ships and support India in their skirmish with China. China will be out numbered and out gunned.
Very astute observation. The nuke site will suddenly turn into a civilian healthcare center. Probably working with the Democrats and Obama directly on this one.
