This is a little funny. Back in 2015 we originally shared an easy peasy way to pay for the border wall by charging a 4% remittance fee on wire transfers to Mexico. With more than $25 billion (2015) in Western Union transfers, more than Mexicos entire oil and energy sector combined, a 4% U.S. surcharge on remittances creates $1 billion revenue annually.
The U.S. Treasury already has a similar process in place for Cuban Remittances and Western Union compliance affidavits. The remittances to Mexico have now jumped to $27 billion in 2016. Making the remittance fee even more feasible.

Sounds like a plan!....................MAGA!..............
Western Union charges an $8 fee to wire any amount of money from San Diego to Tijuana. What a racket!
I hope this means Trump realizes Congress will Never fund the wall and is coming up with other ways to pay for it.
YES!!!
I am willing to bet the vast majority of that money has no taxes on it. It largely represents under the table wage payments for illegal workers. The rate should, therefore, be higher unless they can demonstrate that they paid income taxes.
HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That should be at least $100!
Make it a cool 5% fee.
Makes it easy to figure out how much the revenue will be.
$27.0 billion, $1.35 billion...
$1.35 billion for ten years $13.5 billion.
or $25 each regardless of amount.
If you’re sending $100, that’s pretty steep on top of the Western Union fees.
$5 on top of the Western Union fees isn’t too bad.
The goal is to keep the fee small enough not to stop them from using the service, but large enough to pay off over time in light of the mass quantity of money being sent to Mexico.
Thinks of it as a cigarette tax. You tax too much and you kill the market, or create a black market.
Should be an even 10% fee.
Most of this money is made under the table. This represents the only taxation this money ever sees.
10% raises $2.5 billion/year.
Wall is paid for in 4 years.
Screw 4%. Make it 20%.

Wouldn’t the remittance plan would have to come from congress?
What foul filth will vincinte fox spew with this latest revelation? Still feel like flipping us the bird pendejo?
As the years go by remittences will be smaller unless the remaining ones send bigger remittances. At least the fence will get started. Maybe a go fund me to finish? Plenty of donors available I’m sure.
The 4% fee is low enough to prevent everybody and their brother from going into the remittance transfer business. Transferring money is so quick and easy now if the government take is too high alternative measures with no government fee will spring up.
This is the best plan of all. Make those working illegally in the U.S.
pay for the wall. It should be higher than 4%. Make it 8%.
