Feinstein surprises SF crowd by expressing hope for Trump
SFGate ^ | 30 Aug 2017 | John Wildermuth

Sen. Dianne Feinstein may be San Francisco’s favorite politician, but she quickly learned Tuesday evening that even a wildly popular ex-mayor can get into trouble if she tries to say something nice about President Trump. Feinstein received a standing ovation from the 850 people at the sold-out Herbst Theater when she walked onto the stage for an hour-long “conversation” with former East Bay Rep. Ellen Tauscher. But near the end of the political lovefest, the senator shocked the crowd when she declined to say that Trump should be impeached, and warned the audience that they should expect to deal with the developer-turned politician for all four years of his term. “The question is whether he can learn and change,” Feinstein told the crowd at the Commonwealth Club event. “If so, I believe he can be a good president.”

That sort of talk is never heard in Democratic circles, where California Congress members already are talking about what they see as the need to impeach Trump or remove him from office via the 25th Amendment.

The crowd reacted with stunned silence, broken only with scattered “No’s” and a few hisses and some nervous laughter.

But Feinstein didn’t back away, reacting to a question about why Democrats aren’t being more out front in attacking Trump by reminding people that not only is Trump president, but he’s also only been in office for eight months.~~~~~~~~~~~~A liberal with some common sense?

Feinstein argued that a strategy of all attack, all the time, wasn’t going to make it easier for her or any other Democrat to accomplish anything in Washington. “I have to work with people and a punch in the nose is not going to do it,” she said.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Beginning to see the light?

A liberal on some select senate committees, who likely knows Russia, Russia, Russia has no legs.

She was a good mayor, keeping everyone at arms length-alll SF whakos. Mid-80’s now. Probably thinking of retirement or the afterlife.

No, it is rope-a-dope. To many Dems saying sane things in the last 24 hours. It’s a tap.

I knew she is on the intelligence committee so may appreciate Trump’s leadership and backbone. Plus as stated above, she is on the judiciary committee so will know that Trump has done nothing for which impeachment is justified. And she is probably going to retire.

Translation: We know he’s here to stay. We know this Russia Russia Russia impeachment thing isn’t going anywhere. We know that he will very likely be re-elected. We know that our party has no future as long as we are stuck in the quagmire of this NeverTrump paradigm.

They’ve done the focus group studies and apparently Antifa scores an “F-” on the sympathy meter—surprise, surprise. Also, this could have something to do with the fact that the Trump admin is more and more under the control of Swamp Creatures.

Actually, DiFi wasn’t bad in a lot of ways, very good on a few things (such as defense and Israel), and had a fair amount of common sense. In the last few years under Obama, that seemed to have evaporated - but maybe it’s reviving now.

Who would have thought mobs of screaming black masked terrorists wouldn’t tickle Americans’ fancy? Go figure!

So Feinstein says if President Trump adheres to her, and the Democrats, policies, he’ll be a good President? Am I understanding it wrong?

She did, a long time ago - I was living in SF when she was mayor. Even after she became a Senator, she had her good moments. But I think as the Dem party moved away from being a political party that, you know, wanted to get things done and actually work for the constituency and turned into nothing but a mouthpiece for the radical left, she went with them.

She should be expecting to have Antifa turn up outside her mansion any moment now...

Make no mistake about it, Feinstein is a strident Lefty. Once in a great while she’ll surprise you with a clear thought.

Now, back to business as usual...

Takes some spine to tell San Franciscans that Trump will serve his full term.

LMAO

Tears in beers... for sure.
