At this point unless you’re in imminent threat of storm surge and overwash or are in a low lying area that is definitely going to flood it strikes me as too late, better off sheltering in place than trying to weather the storm stuck in a car or truck on an interstate that’s a parking lot. Just my opinion, obviously I’m not down there in it. Use your own best judgement, anyone caught up in this storm.

no.... but once the storm winds down in a few days then maybe....all that water has to slowly head back to the Ocean....

This storm looks as healthy as any Category 4 storm I’ve ever seen.

Just an intense rain band of short duration. There’s more behind it. We’ll probably get a lot of rain over the weekend and not much else.

Good old Steve Harrigan. I don’t watch Fox News any more but I remember him as being the most bravest, most intrepid reporter on staff, ALWAYS getting his @ss shot at, and he always looks terrified. But he gets a pass, because he’s always getting his @ss shot at. It’s almost like his schtick.

I've been watching one of the weather underground stations in Aransas Pass. All the others have gone offline. At first I considered the relay was bad in the rain monitor. I think this accurate. Good graphs down page.

Governor Abbott did something very stupid. He said people in Houston should strongly consider evacuating. Local officials are shooting that advice down. Meanwhile, I'm heading out to Galveston County.

If indeed the most recent forecasts predict extremely heavy rain together with tropical force winds for up to the next five days, leaving Houston, especially the immediate area west of Houston, seems like a very good recommendation.

Yeah. If everybody from Houston evac’ed now, nobody from the flood zone would be able to find room.

...and we’re still hours from a landfall. It’s gonna be a long night (couple of days) for the ‘hunker down’ lot on that coast.

Thanks for that forum link. I have the app, but hadn’t seen the forum (on regular site).

They brought Dr Neil Frank out of retirement, to talk all things Harvey and hurricanes, for the evening.

Stay safe. Hope we get a break from the really bad stuff.

For comparison, Hurricane Ike and the 1900 Galveston hurricane were Category 4 storms at landfall.
