Being a Jewish fella, I don't hold much brief for white supremacists and neo-Nazis. But until this Saturday, I hadn't seen a lot of them around lately. And I've been going about the country quite a bit for the last couple of years, hitting roughly half the states, including some like Mississippi where the Klan was once riding high.
I'm happy to report that on my visit to the black-owned Two Sister's Kitchen in the capital of that state, Jackson, blacks and whites were both equally, and contentedly in my eyes, braving the criticism of their cardiologists for what is reputed to be the best fried chicken in town. I recommend it wholeheartedly (no pun intended).
Nevertheless, the types who surfaced in Charlottesville on Saturday are certainly human beings of the most repellent and disgusting sort, murderous too -- pretty much violent, evil sociopaths. I wouldn't mind if they were all rounded up, put in a space ship, and sent on a one-way trip to Alpha Centauri.
But how many of them are there really in this land of ours and is this an epidemic?

That was the plan.
Charlottesville Mayor Michael Signer said he was disgusted that the white nationalists had come to his town and blamed Trump for inflaming racial prejudices.
Im not going to make any bones about it. I place the blame for a lot of what youre seeing in American today right at the doorstep of the White House and the people around the president, he said.
Charlottesville, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is a liberal-leaning city thats home to the flagship University of Virginia and Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson.
The statues removal is part of a broader city effort to change the way Charlottesvilles history of race is told in public spaces. The city has also renamed Lee Park, where the statue stands, and Jackson Park, named for Confederate General Thomas Stonewall Jackson. Theyre now called Emancipation Park and Justice Park, respectively.

Governor refused to condemn the Antifa violence when asked to, on camera.
Charlottesville, Berkley, UC, etc. should be thoroughly sued for the selective protection and enforcement of these demonstrations.
and failure to protect free speech rights
Whether antifa had a permit or not (and I have read conflicting reports about that), why did the democrat run city and democrat run state not have adequate security? Why did they allow these 2 groups to come in contact with each other? Someone was itching for a fight. The local authorities could have prevented it, but didn’t.
People pay taxes so that local and state government prevent this kind of crap. Yet in this case the local authorities seemed to go out of their way to allow these two diametrically opposed groups to be protesting in the same place at the same time.
Incompetence or on purpose? Pick one.

The woman’s death and the deaths of the police officers is the fault of this mayor. It was his job to ensure adequate security. He could have denied the permits. He could have had more police on hand.
He did this on purpose or he is incompetent. Either way, he is a f***ing jackass.
Things are very nice here in Boring; everyone is friendly and pleasant. Up in Charlotte, I hear crime is on the increase since the crazies put the kibosh on the police last year. However, even up there, it’s calm on most parts of the city. DP and I went to a concert uptown last month, and all sorts of people were milling around amicably.
And Democrats DO NOT support Israel!
How about the attempted murder of a Republican. Guilt by association goes both ways hypocrites.
I recall this may have started as a protest against removing a statue of Robert E. Lee from a local park.
Leave the statues alone. Why provoke folks? Remember, if you’re offended by something then it’s because you CHOSE to be offended.
And, just because you’re offended doesn’t mean that you are right!!!
Yup. Now Lexington KY said because of the kerfuffle in VA, the “mare” says he’s gonna have two removed. Erasing history just like isis/is/isil/daesh. That’s what dems do. So, we may as well erase slavery.
The point of the article is that the country is not divided and dysfunctional beyond what is useful for leftist propagandists. Way too much hand-wringing going on.
I’m not buying your remarks. It’s GOING TO COME TO A HEAD, might as well do it, and get it over with.
Agreed.
They even called in the Nat Guard, didn’t they?
Between the local PD and the NG they couldn’t keep some semblance of order? I don’t think they wanted to. I think they wanted the white nationalists to get a beat-down.
A Freeper who was there reports that the police removed the barriers and funneled the people in the park directly into the Antifa.
“Being a Jewish fella...”
Well, God bless you. As a good Baptist fella, I was brought up to love and respect the Jewish people. Welcome to Free Republic!
