Prisons have become little more than recruiting grounds and training centers for criminal gangs.

I remember reading fifty years ago, some policeman saying he could stop 99% of all crime in their big city if he was allowed to permanently “remove” about 90 people.

They told us "Three Strikes" was going to do that. But our immigration policy always seems to come up with 90 more.

“2016-present Darrell Steinberg
2008–2016 Kevin Johnson First African-American mayor to serve in office.”

Steinberg is a Secular Progressive Jew who was termed out of the CA State Senate. Before that he was a judge. Like most Liberals, he’s never really worked a day in his life.
Johnson was a “professional” basket ball player. True training to be a municipal executive.

No.

But armed citizens could.

Since the law seems to be standing around doing nothing about the matter.

Yes, pay them to stay inside the State Capitol building, the Governor's Mansion, the State Supreme Court building, and the Sacramento Bee's offices.

Sacramento sounds like a nice place for someone with an itchy trigger finger to call home.

I could use a little extra money. Who do I have to kill to get a job like that?

Only when they run out of people to shoot.

““Who is investing in these fifty?” he asks. “The sad thing is we are talking about youth that have no interventions, that have had no chance to habilitate, much less rehabilitate.”

I’m thinkin’ we can just shoot ‘em when they pop up.

The answer, Sacramento, is gun buy backs and midnight basketball.

There is no way in hell that we should be rewarding punks who shoot other people.

They should be sent to prison or shot between the eyes so the rest of society does not become their victims.

Rewarding gun violence is so far past total stupidity that it should shock even the democrats.

And people wonder why we have decided to leave the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia. This kind of stupidity is why.

If you know who is doing the gun violence in a city they lock the punks up so they can’t shoot anyone else.

Only in Cali would you reward punks with guns.

I will bet money that the same metrics are true for every city in the country.

Pretty much correct. David Kennedy has studied the issue extensively and is the foremost authority on it.

He advocates a mixed approach with the “stick” of long term imprisonment for those who do not get with the program. It is the same thing done with Project Exile and similar programs. They are effective to the extent they get the violent criminals off the street or in fear of being arrested shortly.

It’s called introducing deadly weapons into a primitive society:

“Vengeance Is Ours: What can tribal societies tell us about our need to get even?” by Jared Diamond

The only difference is that while these New Guineans are surrounded and isolated by tropical forests, our domestic savages are surrounded and isolated by liberals.

No, but one 50 round box of good hollowpoints would. Less than 40 bucks.
