If California were to exit (which it won't), it would not be a single state. It would be Calcostal, Jefferson, and Mojave?.

Much of central and eastern California is very conservative and would take their opportunity to exit California, during the upheaval.

Don't come to Texas. It can be 100 degrees on Christmas. And then there are guns, everyone has two or three. School children get a free gun when they enroll in kindergarten. And the food, everything I chicken fried something, chicken fried steak, chicken fried fish, even chicken fried chicken! Forgot the oil and gas wells in everyone's back yard, the pollution is so bad the kids can't play in the back yard. Especially when the oil crew arrives to service the equipment, they drink, they shoot guns and chase the woman folk!

Better to stay in California!

Well, at least they are saying their intentions out loud. Seriously, they want to get rid of the HVAC, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, masons, and other trade and office jobs that make up the Middle Class, are they effing stupid? There was a nation that brought in tons of foreigners in to do its work, it was the Roman Empire, and we all know how that turned out.

Just think of the possibilities...

All of the Hollywood elite would be relegated to the Foreign Film category at the Academy Awards!

“Are people this ignorant?”

Not just that ignorant, but that stupid, seriously stupid.

1) California won’t leave, but. . .
2) If California leaves it dooms the Democratic Party - which California generally supports.
3) If California leaves, it will split into two countries or at least Jefferson (Eastern California) will stay with the Union.
4) Secession, means NO Federal money for highways, mass transit, water development, electricity development, law enforcement, Social Security, welfare, etc. The state effectively would be poor within a heartbeat. They already have something like 95 billion in unfunded liabilities. No, wait, I just checked and it’s gone up 22% in the last year to a staggering $279 billion!!!!!!! http://www.breitbart.com/california/2017/05/15/gov-brown-california-pension-liability-skyrockets-by-22/

Oh, and then there’s the REAL potential for a shooting civil war over all of this. Who gets California’s military bases? Who gets to enforce border security? Who controls the coastline and islands? Who enforces maritime laws? Who gets all of that federal property (bases, court houses, training centers, etc.)?

It would be a huge disaster.

Here's more...

ABC Television Networks would become foreign-owned, as The Walt Disney Company (Burbank, CA) would now be headquartered in a foreign country.

The FCC would probably require Disney to divest ABC, or Disney itself would likely reincorporate in another state.

Some one needs to ask this Calexit leader Shankar Singam one serious question -

What is their plan for those Middle Class and Irredeemables who refuse to ‘make room’ for their next wave of immigrants.

I’d wager that Shankar Singam isn’t a U.S. citizen.

Tucker Carlson's shtick (and expressions) having nobody's on is getting old already.

The only time he's worth watching, in my opinion, is when he has Mark Steyn on.

Where will Cali get its water? Where will Cali get it’s fuel and electricity? Where will Cali gets it’s military so it can defend itself in a very dangerous world.

The Calexit leader exposes himself and the movement as truly and anti-American movement. Let the majority of Californian’s vote for Calexit & it’s legislature agree to it. Then we can declare the state in rebellion, declare it’s former state Constitution dead, remove it’s government, and reform it by decree. After a time the residents of California will enjoy the benefits of the old government being gone, and be ready to elect a good government of their own.

I support CalExit with one condition: existing US Citizens must renounce one or the other nations and new “Kalifornians” will NOT be US Citizens.

The idea that it could possibly be desirable to replace your rooted citizens with people with a different history, different cultural values & preferences, different lines of descent; springs from the same politically correct lunacy, that we elected Donald Trump to reverse.

We need to stop treating it as just naive. It is a repudiation of the whole historic experiences of Mankind. It should be challenged whenever & wherever it raises its ugly head.

If California did secede, then what would their residents do for a living? At least temporarily, they would see a massive exodus of “US” companies.

Since the new nation would be based upon a form of Socialism/Communism, the cost of running this new nation would be quite high, while the income quite low?

Ok, so then they could do a “wealth tax” on their citizens right? But their assets, much of it Californian real estate, would have plummeted in value? Besides, the folks being disproportionately taxed may decide to leave to the...USA.

I think the chance of Calexit is less than 1%, but it could happen. If it did, California would probably be a country with some folks very wealthy, a small middle class, but a huge lower class/dependent group. California would wind up resembling ....? Venezuela? Cuba?
