WASHINGTON President Trump said Wednesday morning, July 26th in a series of tweets that transgender people will not be allowed to serve in any capacity in the US military.

I would like to hope that is true. I was a huge Mattis supporter, and I cannot believe Mattis would buy into this, but it was difficult to know what to believe in the months after he was confirmed and began serving in his post.
Finally. Sanity.
IMHO, the big issue is paying for sex-change surgeries and drugs, which should most assuredly NOT be charged to American taxpayers.
If a trannie is already in the service and doing a good job, I don’t see a huge problem. Of course, I spent ten years in SanFran and eventually (but not right away) had a few gay guys as friends,, so I’m probably more liberal on that issue than some here. I do know that gay men and straight men and women can be friends, can rely on one another, can work together.
I’m a woman, have three lesbian neighbors in my large senior apartment complex, and two of them are perfectly fine, helpful neighbors—one was a marine for 15 years. The third one is on psych meds and can be scary. She was, btw, a marine too, and she’s very Christian...Jesus and No Abortion bumper stickers all over her car.
I can’t judge any of this on moral and/or humanitarian grounds, but I can say NO to paying for Trannie surgery/pills/maintenance.
In the civilian world, we call that having a mission statement and goals, and working to “align” the goals and actions so they pull in the same direction as the mission statement.
Feminizing, homosexualizing, and trangenderizing the military cannot “align” with the mission statement of the military branches, or the military in general. They by necessity detract from it.
In the civilian world, disregarding that puts you out of business.
In the military world, disregarding it puts you out of business...permanently. The same might be said of the country as a whole.
Rescinding Obama’s command to degrade and humiliate our fighting forces by ordering another nut with a level one mental disease have access to a weapon with live ammo to kill more of our own.
With all their ridiculous go-nowhere investigations, Congress also routinely acts as a law enforcement and judicial body even though the Constitution does not give them such powers. They have multitudes of staffers who do nothing but investigative work, and they even subpoena private citizens to testify in their kangaroo pseudo courts. The Constitution has been little more than a quaint artifact to Congress for generations now. And don't get me started on our laughable federal courts. Nope, trust in the system might be for thee, but not for me.
I appreciate your viewpoint on this, you speak quite reasonably. I view homosexuality on an individual basis, and if they keep it to themselves (the same way someone else might keep their S&M or other odd sexual peccadilloes to themselves) I could care less and wouldn’t treat them differently as a person, even if I knew. Everyone is flawed in some way, and they are too.
But we know this is different. We are being forced by Federal law to accept this behavior as normal, and many of these people are willingly wielding that cudgel on us.
Militarily speaking, if these people are serving and we knew nothing about it we could accept it, except that many of these people have knowledge and hold security clearances, which puts them and us in danger. Like many liberal aberrant behaviors, their solution is to make it normal, and then those people aren’t security risks. Yeah, right.
But my main opposition to ANY of this (and that includes women in military combat roles) is that it harms the unit cohesion, complicates logistics (which in war, can mean losing an engagement/battle/war for lack of a nail in a shoe) and diminishes the mission capability across the board.
My feelings on women in combat have nothing to do with respect for women, who I greatly respect, am subordinate to, and work hard to support in the civilian world.
But the military is not the civilian world. If we have 50% of our troops female in combat, and we are attacked by an army that has 0% women in combat, we are going to lose when they come across a field at fighting holes and jump into those holes with our troops brandishing bayonets. No way around it. And that is what counts to me.
We had one...I don’t know what you’d call him...who was found to routinely wear diapers and use them. I don’t know what he got but he definitely was kicked out.
Ever since George Washington’s time Congress has been trying to limit the President’s powers by hook or by crook.
After Watergate, they had an easy time of it because of the wrongly perceived corruption of the Executive Branch.
Now they want to go a step further and take or usurp the presidential powers of state and diplomacy.
I cannot imagine the chaos that would ensue from 535 Secretaries of State............................
No self..it was Klinger!
Ready, fire, aim.
Being sexually attracted to a member of the same sex is a phenomenon that has been known, and known about, for thousands of years.
There is even evidence that certain types of same-sex attracted men can become outstanding warriors.
It is not at all the same thing as the false fixed belief that your physical body is the “wrong sex” and that, with certain surgical and other interventions you can become the other one.
The phenomenon of a delusion about your body is just not in the same category of things.
“Don’t ask, don’t tell” was a Clinton idea... a fact that the Lefties conveniently forget when they screech about how terrible it is.
Ok. Thank you. I definitely forgot about doing that. I appreciate the reminder.
Eight years of daily negative with Obama was too much to take. He did horrible damage to the USA, our country, our culture, our military, our Judeo/Christian religious beliefs and our institutions.
Fight On President Trump! We're behind you 100%! Take no quarter!
I understand. What I was saying was that gays and lesbians have been in the military for centuries, but transexuals haven’t been. I was not saying that gays and lesbians should be in the military. Thanks for your service bud and I LOVE that you were in the Navy!!!!!
Thanks for your response. Appreciate your explanations of the dangers of women in combat. I don’t support that either. My non-scary lesbian marine neighbor was in charge of caring for horses at some base in Virginia. I don’t think anyone would have a problem with that.
AS for security clearances, I heard from military friends long ago that gays were not good security risks. I thought this was because they could be compromised if anyone found out they were gay. Now that everyone’s out, what? One might suppose that sexual ambivalence that trannies exhibit would indicate other kinds of ambivalence, but I cannot say that’s a fact.
This year, several cases were reported of transgender “female” athletes winning girls’ sporting events. And in one case the “female” was sporting a mustache. This should put a stop to some of the nonsense, but no. “Instead of calling this exactly what it isa male unfairly competing against females (cheating), Yearwood is being commended for her bravery.”
I don’t see us winning battles by confusing the enemy to death and am really delighted that Donald said NO.
nothing wrong with don’t ask don’t tell, worked great
LOL, “confusing an enemy to death”...we might do just that. I can see the conversation now among our enemies: “Hell no, I don’t want to conquer them...who needs all that? Do we have to have separate POW camps, do we put them all into one big camp...what?”
As for security risk, I believe they would still be security risks, because I think there are many of them (particularly in the “transgender” grouping) to whom their other issues they may have are simply compounded by their sexual behaviors and desires. That can happen with heterosexuals as well, but I believe it is worse with homosexuals.
Thank goodness. The military exists to be ready for combat, period. We have made enough compromises in the service of political correctness.
There is no right to serve in the military.
An individual transitioning genders simply cannot be considered militarily ready. A biological female who assumes a male gender will, on average, be less capable than a biological male, and require significant constant hormone therapy to maintain even a facade of being male.
A biological male who assumes a female gender will, once they start hormone therapy, be less capable than a biological male. They may on average be more capable than a biological female.
Both male to female and female to male sex reassignment surgery is actually multiple surgeries each requiring a long recovery time. Female to male sex reassignment surgery is significant and invasive: mastectomy, hysterectomy, multiple cosmetic surgeries. Depending on the cosmetic surgeries it can require months of recovery time and cause permanent damage to tissue donor areas.
The idea someone going through this does not impact military readiness is in denial.
