Trump Floats Possibility Of Giuliani Replacing Sessions As AG

President Trump has floated the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with his steadfast ally Rudy Giuliani to serve in the top Justice Department post, Axios reported Monday.

Trump broached the idea in internal discussions about bringing in and surrounding himself with staunch supporters, sources within the West Wing told the news outlet.

Before The New York Times interview last week, Trump had already expressed anger and frustration at Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Axios reports.

Trump, during the interview, opined that Sessions' decision to recuse himself was "unfair" to him and he would've likely picked another person to lead the Justice Department if he had known this is the move Sessions would make.

In a tweet on Monday, Trump went after Sessions, calling him “beleaguered” and questioned why the attorney general and federal investigators are not looking into Hillary Clinton for her “crimes” and ties to Russia.

No. Giuliani is an amnesty supporter.

Under Trump, he'll be minimally effective as an amnesty supporter. Sessions already set the mold in deportation enforcement.

Where he WILL shine, is prosecuting the Swamp Creatures. This is precisely where Sessions lacks. Clinton, Rice, Podesta... all of them are likely targeted.

Ninety-nine times out of 100, if he’s tweeting about a “beleaguered” Jeff Sessions, reality is exactly the opposite.

I dunno bro. Sessions is talking about increasing marijuana enforcement and ramping up civil forfeiture, and NOT prosecuting the last administration's many felonies.

Show a little insight. Trump makes deals. When he publicly remarked that Hillary should get a pass, it was his way of offering a deal. In all but so many words, the deal was: be a gracious loser and let me MAGA in peace, and I will spare both you and the country the divisiveness of sending you to prison.

Hillary was either not intelligent enough to understand the deal she was being offered, or she understood it but spat on it. She joined the Resistance. That was a very stupid move. Trump is under no obligation to honor a spurned deal. He’ll motivate Sessions to investigate Hillary, or if that doesn’t work, he’ll replace Sessions and go from there.

Hillary had her chance and blew it.

Marijuana enforcement is a key to getting Dreamers.

Asset forfeiture? What better way to get the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.

You opine - re Trump not going after Hilderbeast: “Is why Hillary is not being investigated, which he himself ruled out on November 22, 2016.”

Seems you don’t yet understand Trump-speak? “

YOU seem to not understand that when Pres. Trump said HE - HE - would not go after Hitlery - he did NOT mean that his DOJ shouldn’t. THAT is the DOJ’s job, not the Presidents.

And can you just imagine how much worse all the riots and media whoring would’ve been had Pres. Trump been seen as PERSONALLY going after the Hilderbeast right out of the gate?

WE need to remember that Pres. Trump says things plainly that means exactly what he’s saying. He said the HE would not go after her. The unsaid part of that statement is “let the proper dept. do it.”

Get it?

Giuliani would have to recuse himself, too - he was a supporter of Trump, just like Sessions, and in fact was far more involved in Trump's campaign than Sessions was. Also, as others have stated, I think he is now a bit long in the tooth, and probably not as aggressive as he was back in the day when he went after Mafioso types. Where he might be helpful is in helping to select a younger version of himself, assuming that Trump is truly looking for a change. Trump keeps bringing in older talent, which is fine. But he also needs to identify good, younger talent that can carry the torch into the future.

Marijuana enforcement is a key to getting Dreamers.

It's also key to losing Millenials as they vote in droves for the opposition.

Asset forfeiture? What better way to get the Clinton Crime Family Foundation.

I hate civil asset forfeiture. They don't even have to prove you are guilty of a crime, and you still get screwed.

Naw, get the Clintons the old-fashioned way. It's a target-rich environment.

I would like that, but I don’t think Giuliani wants to step into this hot mess, at least not right now. Too many troubling sub-plots to each and every issue. If Sessions is still there by Thanksgiving, ask Rudy then.

By then, it will be clearer if all this public bashing of Sessions was some theater by Trump and for what means, or if he truly is this dissatisfied with the Atty. Gen. if the later is true, Rudy may want some assurance from The President, that he, as AG (Rudy) would not suffer a similar fate as Sessions, being targeted and slammed by the POTUS to the New York Times.

I still remember Giuliani during the 9/11 attacks. From what I saw, he would be a God-Send for this position. He as decisive, strong, and the Responsible Adult taking charge of a bad situation and doing what needs to be done. He was like Superman. I am not a New Yorker but he made me proud. He should have got the position first. Maybe Sessions was picked because he was considered more easily confirmed. Anyways, Rudy, Rudy, RUDY!!!!

I think this is the reason for the goofy news about marijuana enforcement. I don’t seriously believe Trump (and by extension, Sessions) think this is a worth endeavour.

Idiocy runs rampant here on FreeRepublic these days.

There are few things running around here faster than you in your rainbow faggotized pansy Penguin hockey jock strap.

What did Robert Kennedy ("RFK"), JFK's brother and campaign manager, ever recuse himself about that directly involved, JFK, when he served as JFK's Attorney General?

RFK at first recused himself from prosecuting a family friend, legal adviser, and a guy who coached RFK when he was entering law school (James Landis), but RFK reversed himself and pleaded for leniency for Landis in an income-tax evasion case. He prosecuted without recusal family friends Cassini and Keogh.

Maybe Sessions needs to simply un-recuse himself like RFK did.

Only Democrats and pearl clutchers like you would care that Sekulow is presently on Trump's personal legal team. Sekulow as AG would not be "forced permanently" to recuse himself from anything unless he chose to do so himself.

agree -

The things Sessions has finally acted on aren’t even on the first pages of ‘Things to get done” for the Trump Agenda...not to mention, they’re in the direct opposite side of even those issues.

I suspicion Sessions may have been an early ‘Swamp Denizen’ to get positioned for infiltration into the Pres. Trump cabinet, on the chance he might get elected.

Is Sessions an Establishment mole?
