There is something more than a little jarring in the ongoing humiliation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
In an ill-timed, ill-focused interview with the NYT, President Trump revisited his disdain for Sessions, his first, most-ardent and most-loyal supporter in the Senate.
When supporting Trump was still considered career suicide, Sessions donned the red cap anyway. Maybe it will prove fatal for Sessions career, after all.
The president has not made a secret of the fact that he blames Sessions for the scandal that now engulfs the Trump administration, claiming in contravention of all available evidence that somehow if Sessions had not recused himself from the investigation into Trumps 2016 campaign that his White House will not be under siege.
How do you take a job and then recuse yourself? Trump asked reporters rhetorically. If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, Thanks, Jeff, but Im not going to take you. Its extremely unfair and thats a mild word to the president.
Sessions seems an odd target for Trumps blame, given how other members of his inner circle including his son, his son-in-law, his former campaign chairman and his former national security advisor have all laid the president open to the scrutiny of special counsel Robert Mueller.

Agreed, add to that his newly issued aggressive Asset Forfeiture guidelines. He has shown himself to be worthy of contempt, since he has shown contempt for the Constitution for which he took an oath to support and defend. (Bills of Attainder)
Judging by the replys in this very thread it seems at least 755 want Sessions to recuse himself of being the AG. What do you say to all these Freepers?
75%
I know Trump wants to take care of the opioid problem but I don’t know if DARE is the answer.
I’m really disappointed that Sessions wants to expand the asset forfeiture program. I don’t know if Trump knows the extent to which it has been abused against innocents. Not the program to take kingpin’s assets as advertised.
I refer, of course, to the flood of posters criticizing Sessions. Who are these people? Have you seen any/many of them post before? Why are they so consistent in their tone and style of attack.
I pinged SkyPilot, because he's someone I recognize with a history of posting. So, even though he's highly critical of Sessions, he seems to be the exception that proves the rule. Who is everyone else? Might this be yet another NeverTrump psyop being conducted from within the bowels of Salem communications?
We've seen the pattern play out many times before. Regardless of the specific issue at hand, they seem to flood certain controversial threads with highly consistent, well honed arguments & attacks. I don't have an issue with that - ideas are to be attacked & defended in a pubic forum for proper vetting. I do, however, become suspicious when it appears highly organized and focused primarily on separating Trump from his core group of supporters.
“This is just Trump releasing the daily cage of rabbits for the media to chase.”
LOL! Gawd, I LOVE that imagery! So true. Spot on! :)
Well put.
“Can Trump fire him?”
Of course.
The fact that he hasn’t fired him ought to be the first clue that this is The Master Troller playing games with the press. And they fall for it no matter how often he has played them for fools before.
The press loves soap operas and Trump keeps them coming back for more.
For all those who are disappointed in Sessions my advice is be patient. He’s not going to tip off who is being investigated until there is an airtight case, particularly if the names are big ones.
+1
Sessions was an idiot to recuse himself.
I knoew that but I still think that was Sessions' motive to recuse himself.
Thanks for the ping. I really wish that Sessions took the hint today and acquiesced to the wishes of the President of the United States, but he won’t. In my mind, that is prideful selfishness and the part of Jeff Sessions. But as I said to another poster - in the end we are all on the same team.
You get it!!
He folded like a cheap suit. Not the way the west was one Jeff.
What Lincoln said to his cabinet: “There are 10 ayes and one no. The Nos have it.”
As you know with “global warming,” consensus is hardly a way to do business.
Correct. I have never seen many of these people before.
It was Sessions who got Trump's immigration directive validated by the USSC. It is Sessions who is going after these Sanctuary Cities, Drug runners, NYC Gangs and getting the job done.
Please note that the AG does not step up to the podium DURING an investigation. His work is all behind the scenes and coordinated with many others.
The good thing is that we caught a leaker (Comey) and I believe a few others.
Be patient. We have all these Committees at work and they can't be stopped....not even by the President.
I agree with you. We’re the “done in an instant” generation. Be patient.
Support? Support!? Name one freaking thing Jeff Sasquatch has done other than recuse himself and reaffirm the seizure of property from people who have not been convicted of crimes since he assumed his office.
Jeff Sasquatch went AWOL from the moment he was sworn in. I am bitterly disappointed in the man.
