Donald Trump Jr faced damaging new claims on Friday that he lied about his meeting with a Russian lawyer, as an ex-Soviet intelligence officer revealed he was there too and claimed a trove of claims about Democrats and 'bad money' was handed over.
Russian-American lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin - who U.S. intelligence think may still be a spy - told the Associated Press that he was part of the Trump Tower meeting with Don Jr.
Don Jr brought Jared Kushner, his brother-in-law who is now one of President Donald Trump's , and Paul Manafort, then the campaign chairman. But on Friday Akhmetshin and other sources revealed stunning new details about the meeting which put Don Jr on the ropes.
Akmetshin's disclosure of being there blew apart Don Jr's claim on Tuesday to have told 'everything' there was to say about the meeting - because the president's son had only admitted to the presence of Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
Then Akhmetshin, a former Soviet military intelligence officer, piled on the pressure with a bombshell claim that Veselnitskaya had brought a plastic folder full of printed documents which contained claims of the Democratic National Committee receiving dirty Russian money.
That directly contradicted Don Jr's account that no information had been received from the visiting Russians. Don Jr was uncharacteristically silent on twitter as disclosure followed disclosure.
In contrast his brother-in-law Jared Kushner was grinning and relaxed as he and his wife Ivanka mingled with media moguls at Sun Valley in Idaho.
Democrats are beginning to seize on the claims with Bernie Sanders telling an Associated Press reporter: 'These are very, very, very serious allegations.'
He added that there should not be a rush to judgment. The most damage of the day was done to Don Jr's credibility.

That Trump, who had never run for office before and who was panned as a clown by the Democrats and the media right up until Election Night last November, orchestrated a grand coup d’état with the assistance of the Russians to “hack” an American election, and that it was so well hidden that the Don Junior meeting is the only real evidence unearthed so far of the whole thing…
…Or that the Obama administration and the Democratic Party used their immense power to attempt to ensnare the Trumps in a damaging narrative that would either discredit him and the Republican Party as traitors in the event of a Clinton victory or cripple his administration in “scandal” should he pull an upset?
Who had the means, motive, and experience to pull off the deeds in question? Who had the power to let Veselnitskaya into the country, and what purpose would be served for such permission?
We don’t know the half of this story. But frankly, this business with The Russians is all of a sudden a lot more interesting than it’s been the whole time the media has been flogging it.
If in fact, there were files on the DNC receiving dirty Russian money, why weren’t they turned over to the authorities?
I’m going to put a bunch of paper into a zip lock bag, contact the FBI and say I have “documents” related to Russia. Hilarity will ensue, not.
Because Trump Jr was smart enough to see that there was nothing really there. The Obama-Clintonista plants - the Russian double agent and the Russian lawyer - came with a folder of claims, but no facts, no real dirt. They were trying to trade a folder of empty claims the same way they traded the “Trump dossier” to the DNC and McCain. Trump Jr didn’t take the bait, because that’s all it was - a baited hook.

No, I think the spider in the corner is President Trump.
It’s obvious he wants to get all these crooked Democrats but he doesn’t want to use the Justice Department to do it, because it would be viewed by the public as a partisan abuse of his executive authority. Remember the outrage following the debate when he said “because she’d be in jail”? Remember Krauthammer calling that “beyond the pale”?
So instead, he has to use the MSM and RussiaGate investigations and redirect them toward the Democrats. This is why he keeps stirring the pot and getting his son to stir the pot. Trump wants to keep this Russian thing alive because he knows it can only hurt the real culprits, the Democrats.
The MSM is submoronic - they hate Trump and have lost track of their own lies, which they have come to believe. They don’t realize the DNC has been pulling their strings and telling them what to report. They actually think Trump is guilty of colluding with the Russians. Trump knows he’s not, and the Democrats, who made the whole thing up, knows he’s not.
Meanwhile, the Democrats are assuming they have the entire MSM under their hypnosis and can continue to pound Trump into submission, but this is changing, and only Trump knows it. The MSM is oblivious, and the Dems are overconfident.
Every time the Russian thing gets recycled, more info points to the real culprits; the Democrats.
If I’m right about all this, the Democrats will suddenly start saying they think it’s time to stop talking about Russia, treason, collusion, etc. - time to move on. This will signal that they finally see Trump is out maneuvering them again - give it another month.
