FR has been wheezing along for some time now. Some days it’s better, some worse. What is particularly frustrating for those of us who support this site is the absence of any information about plans to permanently address these problems rather than just applying a seemingly endless series of temporary patches as parts fall off the wagon.
Yes! A conservative website should run on conservative principles. A fair explanation would increase “sales” -— otherwise it looks like a less honest place to invest. And I say that as a long time supporter who cares about this site a lot. Explain more, make more $. Openness goes a long way.

I’ve been getting better response by using the quad 209.157.64.200 rather than freerepublic.com
I can only assume this somehow bypasses some of the offline routers by going direct.

I’ve been having issues with FR for months. I click a link, and I get a page or 2 of text, then it hangs, sometimes even timing out on the rest of the page. Sometimes it will render more. It almost looks like from a network perspective, that my browser is seeing resets (RST) from the server. It doesn’t really look like it is FR that is slow, but rather I’m seeing packet timeouts, and retransmits and the like. Probably should hook up a packet sniffer to see what’s really going on someday when I’m not lazy.

Does seem a wee bit more responsive.

Slow in the midwest since yesterday afternoon, but every other site responds quickly.
I started seeing a huge upswing in double posts at the same time, so I think nearly everyone is having the problem (double posts due to user resending the post/save request because they didn't think the server saw it).

I”m not sure it is FR but rather a problem with net somewhere.
I get some sites both local and national without any delays
and now FR seems to be okay.
