Henry Bello, 45 — who resigned amid a sexual-harassment scandal — fatally shot a physician and wounded six other people with an assault rifle before killing himself, officials said.
“When he left he promised to come back and shoot one of the residents,” Dr. Maureen Kwankam told The Post about Bello.
“He said the resident will never graduate and become a doctor because he will kill him before he has the opportunity.”
Before he was canned, the deranged doc had threatened to harm at least four other people working at the hospital, Kwankam said.
He also called the resident once on the phone saying, “I’m gonna kill you,” sources said.
The resident, his intended target, was not working Friday.
Bello entered the hospital’s 16th floor looking for the resident when one physician noticed the AR-15 sticking out of his lab coat.
The doctor immediately started to run while screaming “Gun!” according to law-enforcement sources.
The gunman proceeded to shoot six people — three doctors, two med students and one patient — on the 16th floor. He then headed up one flight, where he fatally shot a 33-year-old doctor, the sources said.

Of course, it will be the rifle’s fault per the mass media. If only.... someone in the hospital was armed (other than security- gosh, he had to get through the doors).
As a native born NYer, I am so glad to have migrated away from that disaster of a state long ago.

I dealt with EMRs almost all of my career so that didn’t bother me. Having read Paul Star’s “The Social Transformation of AMerican Medicine” early on (published in ‘78, IIRC I read it in the late 80s). Having read that book and pondered I feel like I had a good idea of where Medicine was heading and it has been clear for decades that it ain’t a good place. I tried to get folks in Medicine to wake up but they just didn’t want to hear it or see it.
I was at a talk given by Reagan’s HHS guy back in ‘88. Even then he was saying we were digging our way into a hole we can’t get out of. Economically, intellectually, ethically, Medicine is just headed toward a disaster and the folks in charge just are unable to see the wreck coming.
The problem with EMRs, IMHO, is not what they do or how or whatever. The real problem is the potential for abuse. We already know that the NSA has been weaponized by the Rats so they already have the infrastructure to abuse the data and it would not surprise me one bit that they are doing so already.

Somebody sees the Rifle under the Perp’s Lab Coat and instead of tackling him or trying to take it away from him, they run away yelling Gun?
The Perp didn’t have the Rifle out and pointed at anyone.
Is this what happens when you propagandize the Population to be frozen in fear of just seeing a Gun in real life?
I know, you never know how you will react to something like this, but turning into Victim mode at the first sign of trouble never ends well.

I’m guessing he was able to put the Rifle Barrel under his Chin and reach the Trigger with his Thumb.

A slippery slope. If the Police start knocking on the door of everyone “accused” of being “threatening” and hauling them downtown for forced mental health checks, we will ALL be screaming about their storm trooper tactics. These forced “mental health checks” will become part of our “records”, be used to deny gun permits, deny employment, who knows what else. This issue is much like when an obviously mentally ill person commits a crime. We all want to know why he wasn’t institutionalized beforehand. However, when they start rounding up everyone who is reported to be acting strangely, trust me, we won’t like that either. I’m am not aware of a simple answer.

I found no mention of the dead victim’s name or relationship to him. Too often victims are just dismissed.

That is why men are traditionally raised to overcome fear. That used to be the Number 1 requirement of ALL definitions of manhood.
Indians [aka ‘Native Americans’] often tested someone by aiming weapons near his head. If he flinched he was a coward.

If they went after everyone who threatened their former employers, that’s all the cops would be doing.
Bottom line, if you eff with someones employment, you better have a damn good reason for firing them. Over and above legal issues, it’s because if they think for one second they got shorted or screwed unfairly, things can go south real fast for those who had the employee terminated.
And sometimes these people will show up *years* later to exact their vengeance. This has happened many times.
Sounds like this guy must be mental.
