Some House Democrats mull over how to oust Pelosi as leader
AP ^ | 06/24/2017 | Kevin Freking

A dozen or so House Democrats want Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to go after a dispiriting loss in a House election in Georgia. They just don't know how to make it happen.

"We can't keep losing races and keep the same leadership in place. You have a baseball team that keeps losing year after year. At some point, the coach has got to go, right?" said Rep. Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y., on Friday.

The frustrated Democrats met in Rice's office a day earlier to discuss their options as they face long odds of knocking out the woman who has led the Democratic caucus for nearly 15 years from minority to majority and back, raised tens of millions of dollars and has had multiple legislative successes. Their action plan: Keep talking. Keep raising the concern that something needs to change within the ranks of the party's leadership.

..

The main argument against Pelosi from her Democratic detractors is that more than 30 years in Washington and hundreds of millions of dollars in attack ads against her have taken their toll when it comes to public opinion. Millions were spent in Georgia with ads linking Pelosi to Jon Ossoff, who lost to Republican Karen Handel on Tuesday. They argue that Democratic candidates will have a better shot on Election Day if they're not tied to Pelosi.

"The issue I think strategically is that Trump energizes their base and Leader Pelosi energizes their base," said Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, who was unsuccessful last year in trying to unseat Pelosi.

Said Rice: "The Republican playbook has been very successful. It's not fair. It's not accurate in its attacks on our leader, but it's effective. They keep winning and we keep losing."

I haven’t spent immersed in politics for a 4th decade running to come to such conclusions lightly. Running crap campaigns are one thing, collusion is quite another, and this was stone cold collusion. I absolutely believe both parties (specifically the establishment) collude with one another and have for some time. It’s a farce that has the public believing they have a choice in who’s running the government when it’s already been decided. Very similar to the IL Combine, but on a much larger scale.

We were all set to go through that same joke again last year, with El Jebbe as the designated loser against Hillary and Trump upended the whole shebang. The Deep State is the true enemy, and it remains firmly in control of both parties, and until they and their operatives are deposed, we can and will just as easily retreat to the pre-Trump pre-chosen fixed contests.

And I’ll add this as well, Zero was the most defeatable candidate the Democrats have EVER put up. If McQueeg or Slick Willard wanted to defeat him, they could’ve done so easily. They didn’t because they didn’t want to. Their enemy is Conservatism and they only employ cutthroat tactics against Conservatives and Conservatism. Think Willard can’t run a vicious and brutal race ? Watch what he did to Jim Rappaport in 2002 and Sarah Palin in 2008. If he had treated Zero like he did those two, he’d have won in a landslide.

Like I said, it’s all a big joke, and the joke is on America and its citizens. Deep State gets to keep their power and control and $$, we pissants get stuck with the debt and living under the spiraling decay.

Her position has nothing to do with actual teaching (nor should it, in fact it shouldn't even exist) and everything to do with

A)Doling out money

B)Broad education policy goals

And I find her perfectly capable and experienced enough in those fields.

And actually If Obama had picked for the position someone from outside the teaching world, and therefore less likely to a be teacher's union stooge, I'd have been thrilled.

I honestly saw the choice as a home run. Am I on crack?

And I hate to rehash our discussion of the 2014 Treasurer's race but I'm telling you, Frerichs (Freaks) is probably a pedophile (I'm half-kidding), he has the look, give me Cross.

And that election was DEFINITELY stolen. No Republican loses an election by a quarter of a percentage point, the democrats DO NOT CARE whether you liked Cross or not or what his ideology was, they pad their vote in EVERY race and game late counting/recounts in EVERY close race. When a democrat wins by less than 10K votes in statewide election in Illinois that means they did not really win, period. Sure they wouldn't have terribly minded a combine RINO tool like Cross but they certainly preferred their combine rat tool, Freaks, especially since he was one of their few downstate stars. Look for Freaks to be their choice to eventually replace Turban in the Senate, always better to kill someone like that in the womb (this is a metaphor I don't advocate violence, publicly ;) ).

Absent Trump, Rubio or Cruz would have been nominated, probably Rubs who the establishment would have much preferred.

Jerm (new, like?) was going nowhere, and I don’t believe for a minute that he would have succeeded if not for Trump’s attacks on him, he wouldn’t have even been the top a-hole candidate, Gay’s itch still would have eclipsed him, and “Stay Puft” wasn’t far behind.

What did Willard do to Palin in 2008? Bad mouth her after being passed over?

I agree 100%.

And the name of the DIABLO in NY was Scuzzobama. ;)

She went on to serve in Not-the-homo Jr’s sub-cabinet, but is no longer in the position as of this year, she still had it last year.

Naah, it was going to be El Jebbe. They weren’t going to let Cruz near the nomination. Bubbles would’ve been obliterated as soon as he was exposed for his “preferences.”

As for Willard and Palin, you were here during the farce. You remember he had his paid goons out undermining her at every turn. She alone could’ve won the election for McQueeg despite all attempts to throw it. That couldn’t be permitted.

Totally agree that Minion could have beTen Zero. Don’t know about McTurd. He was solidly beaten in the EC and lost by more than 5m votes. But he did lead in polls till he suspended his campaign.

Amazing what can happen when you run a race to win, or run a race to lose.

I think the truth, as is often in life, is somewhere in between.

We NOW KNOW that both romney and mccain are uniparty POS. They’ve proven that OVER and OVER to the point of near treason.

Did they want to lose? I don’t think so, but not because of noble reasons of saving the country.

Just more power, power, power.

FieldMarshaldj brings up some quite valid points. And you, impy, do point out that running for president is utterly grueling.

Neither men came out swinging conservative baseball bats, because they don’t believe in conservatism.

As far as wanting to win or lose, it’s really a mute point because as fieldmarshal says, it’s one big happy uniparty so mccain/romney would still be part of the oligarchy either way.

Without the spoils of the 200k speeches an ex president gets to make.

I still can’t believe that Newt endorsed her even *after* she fell behind Hoffman in the polls.

Well, I'm reminded of the FReepers who thought (and still think!) "Obama's conservative cousin" in Kansas was an outstanding conservative leader for the U.S. Senate, and GOP voters there only rejected that creepy unqualified goofball for the job because they love RINOs and "the establishment".

FYI, some interesting articles on the matter:

https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/devos-may-not-be-as-conservative-on-social-issues-as-you-think

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/01/why-evangelicals-are-speaking-out-against-betsy-devos-214710

https://gadflyonthewallblog.wordpress.com/2016/12/14/dont-be-fooled-betsy-devos-still-loves-common-core/

A "home run" Trump cabinet pick, IMO, would be Gen. Mattis as Defense Secretary. DeVos ends up on my other side of the spectrum.

I can't imagine any GOP Senator or conservative jumping to praise Obama back in 2016 if he had picked a totally unqualified person who had never served in a classroom to run our national education policies. "Wow, I was wrong about Barack Obama, I'm thrilled he picked Lexie VuBois, the Democrat from Michigan who has no experience as an educator, to run education in this country! I can't wait to confirm her and Ashton Carter, too! I REALLY like that he never served in the military but will be overseeing all their policies! We needed an outsider! What a breathe of fresh air!" Sorry. Not buying it. As I recall, we weren't too fond of him picking a tax cheat as Treasurer, either.

But again, I will support McCain IN SPITE OF his bad vote to confirm this twit.

I remember in a media appearance he got VERY pissy when challenged on his sticking by her.

And then he became the FR favorite for President...

I’d nay have praised him but I would certainly preferred if Obama had picked a “Lexie VuBois” rather some scuzz who was up the butt of the teacher’s unions and skilled at doing their bidding.

I saw some highlights from the hearings, meh, “doesn’t do well under interrogation from mostly hostile Senators” wasn’t very concerning to me. The big hoopla was over some comment about guns. I certainly would not have been the only conservative Senator to join with EVERY democrat + Susie and Lisa.

She seems to be me to be the right kind of person to lead this department that shouldn’t exist. Hopefully it’s role will decline and we can axe it one day.

So 2016 Senate nominee in CO, Darryl Glenn is primarying Doug Lamborn in CO-5 for some reason. So is conservative State Senator Owen Hill.

Does Lamborn have some weakness I’m not aware of?

In other news, Mo Brooks wins a GOP strawpoll for Alabama Senate, no shock since it was in his hometown of Huntsville. But incumbent appointed Senator Luther Strange finished tied for dead last (ahead only of a few people that got zero votes each).

http://www.al.com/news/huntsville/index.ssf/2017/07/mo_brooks_first_luther_strange.html

Small small sample size but this awful for Strange, who as been elected statewide as AG.

Having Lamborn, Hill and Glenn all running at once with no runoff isn’t likely to see Lamborn displaced. Maybe they were hoping he’d run for Governor.

As for AL, Strange may regret he gave up the AG office, especially when it put him in a stronger position to run for Governor. I’m endorsing Chief Justice Moore for the Senate vacancy. It’s too bad Dick Shelby doesn’t resign so President Trump can give him an Ambassadorship and then Mo Brooks can take his seat.

I lean towards Brooks, Moore is 70 and if anyone could give the rats an opening it would probably be him.

Ron Gunzburger has taken time out of his busy schedule of re-tweeting calls for impeachment to post some political news, what a prince that guy.

Trump was in ND, brought Heidi! on stage and called her “a good woman”. Meanwhile a few thousand miles away NRSC chairman Cory Gardner throw up a little in his mouth and didn’t know why.

Nevada Treasurer Dan Schwartz runs for Governor, creating a primary for Adam Laxalt

https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/republican-dan-schwartz-nevadas-maverick-treasurer-jumps-into-governors-race

RINO Dave Reichert of WA State is retiring, giving rats their #2 target seat after Ros-Lehtinen’s. Hillary won by 3, but Trump/Johnson together would have won with 48%.

AL Senate poll from SE Research, Moore 52, Strange 36.

In PA, St Rep Justin Simmons challenges RINO Charlie Dent from the right.

Wealthy Republican Rick Green runs for MA District 3, where I was unaware the rat incumbent is retiring.

I hope she’s not playing the President.
