A gunman believed to be a supporter of former Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders sprayed a hail of bullets at a GOP baseball practice Wednesday morning, critically wounding House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and injuring four others before U.S. Capitol Police took down the rifle-wielding assailant.
Scalise was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon, MedStar Washington Hospital tweeted. He had surgery after being shot in the hip and was initially said to be stable.

BTW, in case you missed the hospitals 11:00 PM news release, it is now worse then reported earlier.
The Congressman has had multiple surgeries and multiple transfusions due to the fact the bullet shattered bone, blood vessels and internal organs. He will require additional surgeries, and his condition remain critical.

During the time of surgery, yes they would notice, but you can bleed a gallon into your upper leg and hip before you go for surgery. IOWs the extent of damage may not have been so apparent until they got in there. I agree, it’s got to be more likely the extent of injuries that may have caused ischemia. The bullet (s) may have hit the femoral head causing havoc. Still, I would think compared to your worse case military trauma, he was seen quickly and stabilized. Sepsis takes around 72 hours. REmember with Reagan, it was by lucky chance that they picked up his pneumothorax. Scalise may have been hit in other areas as well.
It was mentioned on the radio this morning that the bullet went through his spleen.
This may be one of the cases, where the femoral artery is so damaged that the only way to save the pt is to tie off the artery, knowing the Pt will lose the leg as a result.
No good choices here.

There are all sorts of things that can go wrong once a surgeon is inside a Pt’s lower abdomen, In addition, there is always a chance of an abreaction to the anesthesia itself, stress induced cardiac rhythm problems, or a stroke from a clot floating to the brain.
The problem re: a stroke is that docs cannot put Pt on anticoagulants, to treat or prevent clots, because clotting is exactly what they want in the rest of the body.

Info on the timeline from his being shot, from Cong. Mo Brooks and the wounded Officer Bailey-— he fell at second base and then began to crawl away out a little into right field. And the time he was there was 10 minutes (bleeding) until Dr. Paul and Bailey, once the assassin was killed, rushed out to do whatever they could (pressure, etc., not discussed obviously with the public). And then the time until medevac got him out, video showing plasma bag (or other) as he’s wheeled.
Not trying to second guess- really just guessing. This AM second surgery announced, and you’re right they couldn’t get it all, and if he needs RBCs and volume they know he’s still bleeding. Concern on the sepsis is puncture/perf of the lower bowel/ bladder. the 7.69x39 is nasty and could enter tumbling and tumble inside— terrible damage. Yeah, GW ER did good work and lucky— pneumothorax- had forgotten that really important catch— saved Reagan’s life, thank God (and George Washington).
Reminded of the horrible wounds in Civil War of a .57 cal lead round that would hid a bone and shatter it into bowel ripping fragments.

Millions of Bernie supporters thought the democrat primary was democratic in the sense that the candidate with the most votes would become the nominee. The DNC admitted in words to the effect that primary elections are ‘for show’ only.
There is now a $300 million lawsuit filed by lawyers on behalf of Bernie supporters against the DNC. The DNC has responded by filing a Motion to Dismiss but before they claimed a technicality in service processing. The young bright process server Shawn Lucas was found dead they day after, possibly murdered. A FL prosecutor in DWS district was murdered recently, and two other lawyers connected to the case suddenly whacked as well.
Seth Rich murder is being followed by George Webb who has found that Rich was involved in the ‘NGP Van’ database that basically ripped money and voters from Bernie Sanders.
There is also a trail of bodies stacking up in the thumbdrive runner network to Julian Assange related to the Seth Rich investigation.
Too much circumstantial evidence, metadata, coincidences, bodies piling up, to ignore that something stinks here.
I hate to say this, but , Count on it. We have folks on our side that need a chill moment, a take non violent action by other means.

Unfortunately Webb went off the rails yesterday by sending the Feds on a wild goose chase at the port of Charleston. He's looking at some serious jail time for that stunt, so he's going to be off the Seth Rich case for the foreseeable future.
