The race to fill Montana's sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives took a violent turn Wednesday, and a crew from the Fox News Channel, including myself, witnessed it firsthand.
As part of our preparation for a story about Thursday's special election to air on "Special Report with Bret Baier," we arranged interviews with the top two candidates, Republican Greg Gianforte and Democrat Rob Quist. On Wednesday, I joined field producer Faith Mangan and photographer Keith Railey in Bozeman for our scheduled interview with Gianforte, which was to take place at the Gianforte for Congress Bozeman Headquarters.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"
~snip~
Scanlon (Gianforte's press sec) later issued a statement saying that Jacobs "entered the [campaign] office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Greg's face, and began asking badgering questions.
Later, the statement added, "After asking Jacobs to lower the recorder, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs grabbed Greg's wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. It's unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ."

I had fraternity brothers who had a ranch in the Belgrade area and they let me duck and goose hunt on their property. Many a duck was served for dinner.
PS: I had my rifle, shotgun and pistol on campus! Back when men were men!
Montana....I’ll bet he wins, because those folks hate reporters as much as we do : )
Just another Jersey liberal spouting off huh!!!
Just wondering, have you had your pulse checked?
Thank you. I’ll keep that in mind.
I suppose if that’s what you call the only person here who worked for him, fished the steam that runs through his backyard and dined with his family.
Yeah sure, liberal...lol.
Amen. Too bad the video doesn’t exist. His word against leftist apparatchiks now. I am very surprised that he is one of us, knowing how relentless Mitch is in thwarting Tea Party patriots.
Pal, I knew not a thing about this race until last night.
The Democrat candidate, Rob Quist, is unattractive to the female Democrat voters.
He couldn’t win Montana without them.
This is all a big play on the emotions of the female voters in Montana.
Might just work.
If I lived in Montana, this guy would get my vote. Need more of this type of non-verbal response.
When I heard this news earlier, I thought “In today’s political climate, this may actually help his cause”.
As long as he doesn’t face any criminal charges at least. When I heard the account earlier, they just recounted what the staffer did, that the two just basically struggled for the phone and fell to the ground.
But if what the Fox reporters say happened actually happened then that could be a different story. No pun intended. He may face simple assault charges if what the Fox people say actually happened. Then his chances don’t look to good.
I don’t know if there’s enough time to file formal charges between now and the election though.
Alicia Acuna is certainly getting her day in the sun; I’ve seen her in 2 different interviews already today.
She puts all the blame on the candidate, as if he went into an unprovoked rage. Makes me wonder what her politics are, surely her reporting is not shaded by that?
Ticket sales could replace the need for tax increases.
I think most who would have voted for him still will and he may gain votes because of this. Conservatives are completely fed up with liberal antics. This is the story of this country right now, liberals want their own way- rude and pushy. They think they can just roll over the top of everyone. The reporter had every bit of this coming. You don’t get in a man’s face about anything, that should get your a$$ kicked.
<;-)
So you had dinner with Quist? It’s all becoming clearer!
I hope you are correct. It would not change my vote if I lived in Montana, but you know how voters are today. Perhaps Montana is a tougher kind of place. Since I posted last night, I have learned that 70% of the voters have already voted, so perhaps it won’t have much effect anyway.
