The race to fill Montana's sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives took a violent turn Wednesday, and a crew from the Fox News Channel, including myself, witnessed it firsthand.
As part of our preparation for a story about Thursday's special election to air on "Special Report with Bret Baier," we arranged interviews with the top two candidates, Republican Greg Gianforte and Democrat Rob Quist. On Wednesday, I joined field producer Faith Mangan and photographer Keith Railey in Bozeman for our scheduled interview with Gianforte, which was to take place at the Gianforte for Congress Bozeman Headquarters.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"
~snip~
Scanlon (Gianforte's press sec) later issued a statement saying that Jacobs "entered the [campaign] office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Greg's face, and began asking badgering questions.
Later, the statement added, "After asking Jacobs to lower the recorder, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs grabbed Greg's wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. It's unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ."

No, but your ass does.
Montana would love to have you.
PM me if you are going to move here - the Better Half is a real, honest and hard working Real Estate Broker.
there is personal space that allows a reaction.
This reporter, a known fabricator, coordinated this event to invade the space.
This is reporters being bullies.
“Its been reported that 2/3s of the state has already voted by mail, I dont know how exactly they figure that without knowing what the turnout will be.”
Well, I voted a few weeks ago, absentee.
We used to live near our polling place, and drive by it to go into town.
Then the D’s gerrymandered our district and our new polling place was ‘close’ IF you looked down from above. The new polling place was a 30 minute drive to get to the other side of the mountain we live on!
It’s since been moved again, but it’s still out of the way, so we vote absentee.
Montana does have early voting so I guess that’s where the 65% number comes from???
“Yep! Missoula County, Silver Bow (Butte) County and Deer Lodge (Anaconda) County are the liberal/leftist bastions of Montana. I know of what I speak. I grew up in Deer Lodge County.”
Gallatin County is getting there, too.
A statement about Jacobs assault from Greg for Montana campaign spokesperson Shane Scanlon reads:
“Tonight, as Greg was giving a separate interview in a private office, The Guardians Ben Jacobs entered the office without permission, aggressively shoved a recorder in Gregs face, and began asking badgering questions. Jacobs was asked to leave. After asking Jacobs to lower the records, Jacobs declined. Greg then attempted to grab the phone that was pushed in his face. Jacobs then grabbed Gregs wrist, and spun away from Greg, pushing them both to the ground. Its unfortunate that this aggressive behavior from a liberal journalist created this scene at our campaign volunteer BBQ. “
Remember, this puke’s GF is Michelle Fields, who tried to set up Corey Lewandowski in 2016 in a charge of assault, and video footage proved her a liar.
That's why you won't see video of the alleged "body slam", at least until after the election.
Gianforte is an ass to pull this now and make himself a national spectacle. Every account has him in the wrong and having known him and even been to his home...I will stay reserved and just say he doesn’t deserve to win. Montana is crazy if they let this guy representative them.
What did Gianforte pull?
You seem to know the man—is he an assaulter and a liar?
He was attacked by Jacobs, not the other way around.
Even FoxNews is backing away from their own reporter’s
“eyewitness” account, saying they only saw the end, not the beginning of the confrontation.
And no, another Democrat in Congress to work for Schumer and Pelosi is not acceptable.
Actually, the entire election is mail-in.
Only significance of today’s date is that the ballots get counted this afternoon so everybody’s ballot has either already got there or it better get there pronto.
“2/3s of the state has already voted by mail”?????
I can pull numbers outta my bum too and I’d put that figure at closer to 95 percent.
...only hope the flakes have now is to whine and claim that this election is invalid, too. (Although they’d better not bring that line of crap to me.)
I have yet to read anything confirming what I already know and that he is prone to bursts of anger and capricious decisions based upon emotion. This is mostly in a business sense and I think he made his money on the backs of the little guy and is buying his way into this seat with his multi-billions. Wouldn’t vote for him in a million years and would sit it out if I were in Montana. Personally, I don’t think he’s honest and would be shocked if the snowflake initiated the incident since it seems to be more like Gianforte being himself.
Bozangeles? Went to MSU when Bozeman was still sane!
Arrest the reporter for trespass!
I live in the Bozone (just outside city limits, that is).
It’s a good place to live.
It is, however, snowing at this moment. Happy I mowed yesterday.
Spoken like a true “Eastener”! /oh yeah! Sarcasm abounds!
“Montana is crazy if they let this guy representative them.”
Horseshit!
I’m not having a tax cheat, nudist hippy who wants to get rid of the second amendment represent me!
I don’t believe it was all mail in. The pubbies fought that fight and prevailed. Only mail in ballots are absentee.
My husband just said..”so now Gianforte wins, right...this IS Montana.”
Lesser of two evils as usual. I know how that is and would probably have voted for him if I didn’t know him. For Trump’s sake only, I hope he wins.
“just say he doesnt deserve to win.”
Please elaborate.
