Residents at three public housing areas now have a mini-fleet of free Zipcars to make their way around Sacramento.

Free? You ignorant morons. We need more shotguns in the Halls of justice to mow these filth down.
I cannot believe my friends reaction when I told them just now.
They effen praised this life subsidy.
I hope pre-existing conditions are dropped for these zippy grifters...
I might add that it was certainly NOT "free"!!!
I figure the entire fleet will be totaled or stolen in a year.
Show off——you and your new car. !!!
:-)
.
...packing and moving to Sacramento... :)
Been off SSDI due to brain injury for over 2 years, but this work thing gets old fast :) JK
Fortunately, my job pays a heck of a lot more than SSDI max.
I have a 1999 Mercedes. Old as dirt. But it looks good.
Zip cars and zip guns
I have read through this entire thread and still don’t know what a zip car is .
Every “urban free loaner” bicycle program has shut down.
The lib planners are no doubr thinking “we didn’t do it right...let’s give them free cars. Yeah, that’ll work this time.”
"In a Yugooooooo!"
Remember when Los Angles Unified School District spent $1.3 billion giving all of the students “free” iPads?
Every urban free loaner bicycle program has shut down.
The lib planners are no doubr thinking we didnt do it right...lets give them free cars. Yeah, thatll work this time.
LOL that’s about it :( Throw morrrre money at a program to fix it...
What could possibly go wrong? Reminds me of this:
"Even more important than being drunk, however, is having the right car. You have to get a car that handles really well. This is extremely important, and theres a lot of debate on this subject about what kind of car handles best. Some say a front-engined car; some say a rear-engined car. I say a rented car. Nothing handles better than a rented car. You can go faster, turn corners sharper, and put the transmission into reverse while going forward at a higher rate of speed in a rented car than in any other kind. You can also park without looking, and can use the trunk as an ice chest. Another thing about a rented car is that its an all-terrain vehicle. Mud, snow, water, woods you can take a rented car anywhere. True, you cant always get it back but thats not your problem, is it?"-PJ O'Rourke (How to Drive Fast on Drugs While Getting Your Wing-Wang Squeezed and Not Spill Your Drink, 1978)
I just went outside and took a photo of my 97 Lumina with a flashlight. It still has 50 miles to go before it hits 200,000.
My first question was what is a zip car. I guess I am ignant like you. Probably because I am not from California.
Those cars are going to be trashed in no time. And stolen.
Whats left after fedgov and state/local govt legally rob you?
Imagine trying to insure such a car with multiple drivers of unknown driving records. And if the state self-insures, imagine getting into a collision with one and trying to sue the state.
