Residents at three public housing areas now have a mini-fleet of free Zipcars to make their way around Sacramento.

The Unicorns are here at last!
I once asked a gaggle of Ukrainians why so many of them pick Sacramento of all USA places to first immigrate to:
They said “Because welfare benefits and other services are so much richer, here.”
They made no bones about it.
There are tons of them in Sacto.
I should add I have no info that it’s the Ukrainians who mainly (or even partly) got these zipcars.
How nice. I drive a 2005 clunker. Needs repair. Ya think the town will let me use one of their cars “free”?
Oh. I don’t vote democrat. Never mind.
How long before one of these zip cars is used in a liquor store robbery?
How many days until all the vehicles are destroyed, missing, or seized after use in a crime?
“How nice. I drive a 2005 clunker.”

That have a car THAT old?
Poor you.
I have a 2006 Corolla. :-)
.
Tons of Russian immigrants in Vancouver,WA & Seattle area, as well. Again generous welfare benefits is the reason.
the wife and i make about $240k/yr combined. my last vehicle purchase was a 23 year old $1k p/u truck
I wonder how many of these grifters will commit crimes with these free Kia Soul Electric cars? For those that didn’t click on the Sac Bee website to see full article, these freeloaders don’t have to pay for insurance, maintenance or even paying for the electricity to run the vehicles.
Instead of fining you about non-operative vehicles on your property, the city should send over some of their mechanics...
The cars are not FREE. The working stiffs are paying for them via taxes.
My money is on a drive by.
And my ride is a few years older.
Total insanity.
Yep. My 2007 isn’t a clunker but it has well over 100K miles on it. I won’t pay the prices they are asking for new cars so I guess I will drive it until it won’t go any further.
Maybe someone will GIVE me a car! But like you I don’t vote democrat and have this foolish “I support myself” mindset, so that’s probably not gonna happen. How the hell did we get to the point where people in “public housing” have their every whim met but those of us who work for a living can’t imagine tomorrow?
Free cars! Who could be against such a thing?
They’ll be parted out by Monday.
Zip!
WILL THE GAS TAX REPEAL GO VIRAL
Free everything.
Phooey
I drive a 97 Lumina. It still runs fine but in just about 15 more miles it will hit 200,000.
