Newly released police documents claim that Dr. David Dao, the passenger who was shown being dragged off a United Airlines flight on April 9 in widely shared videos, behaved violently toward the officers removing him, but his lawyer dismissed this account as utter nonsense.
The phone videos taken by other passengers set off waves of criticism and multiple statements from the airline, each more apologetic than the last.
The police reports were released Monday afternoon in response to a freedom of information request filed by The New York Times and other news organizations. The releases included audio of the original call to the Chicago Department of Aviation police, personnel reports about the officers and an incident report that appeared to blame Dr. Dao for his own injuries.

Ok lets see the report.
The CEO doesn't care about the money Dao may or may not get he's concerned with the millions of dollars of lost bookings if he doesn't get ahead of this story and reassure future customers that this will not happen again.
United will have the right to the full report, via discovery. It would be catastrophic for Demetrio to have lied about what’s in it, for that very reason.
HIPPA laws prevent you from seeing the report. You are not an attorney representing the party that’s about to be sued (into oblivion).

Your doctor will evaluate your signs and symptoms, review your medical history, and conduct a neurological examination. Signs and symptoms of a concussion may not appear until hours or days after the injury.
Tests your doctor may perform or recommend include:
Neurological examination
After your doctor asks detailed questions about your injury, he or she may perform a neurological examination. This evaluation includes checking your:
Vision Hearing Strength and sensation Balance Coordination ReflexesCognitive testing
Your doctor may conduct several tests to evaluate your thinking (cognitive) skills during a neurological examination. Testing may evaluate several factors, including your:
Memory Concentration Ability to recall information
Imaging tests
Brain imaging may be recommended for some people with symptoms such as severe headaches, seizures, repeated vomiting or symptoms that are becoming worse. Brain imaging may determine whether the injury is severe and has caused bleeding or swelling in your skull.
A cranial computerized tomography (CT) scan is the standard test to assess the brain right after injury. A CT scan uses a series of X-rays to obtain cross-sectional images of your skull and brain.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be used to identify changes in your brain or to diagnose complications that may occur after a concussion. An MRI uses powerful magnets and radio waves to produce detailed images of your brain. Observation
You may need to be hospitalized overnight for observation after a concussion.
If your doctor agrees that you may be observed at home, someone should stay with you and check on you for at least 24 hours to ensure your symptoms aren't worsening.
Your caregiver may need to awaken you regularly to make sure you can awaken normally.
If the pilots have loyalty, it should be to their bread and butter. I.e.: if United’s acts were defensible, the pilots should either have taken a more even-handed approach, or kept their mouths shut. It’s not in their best interests to add fuel to the anti-United fire.
Iow, if United loses monumentally, it won’t be good for business.
Look, your Dao hatred is insurmountable. The drs who treated Dao say he has a concussion. If that’s not good enough for you, nothing is.
I will wait for the actual data to come in.
‘I don’t hate Dao.’
Bol!
At least you haven’t lost your sense of humor.
“I am sure the UA lawyers are lamenting that knee jerk reaction. “
It wasn’t “knee jerk” it was days after. His initial response was ‘knee jerk” which seemed to indicate UA acted within their rights. He walked that back, his later response was there was “no reason” that Dao should have been removed.
It should come as no surprise this report reads as if the airport security was in the right. Real cops lie all the time to cover their ass. What kind of fool would expect a security guard to act more honorably.
They were AUTHORIZED ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. It matters little if they were employed by a corporation, a village, a city, a state, or federal. If one is smart, intelligent, mature, and level headed, one does not get into physical altercation with them. There are courts available for that purpose.
Otherwise, you will get a few teeth knocked out and suffer concussion. Take your pick. Dr Dao got what he deserved for being stupid and arrogant.
Bullsh!t. I have seen every video out there of this indecent. I am willing to be corrected if you can supply a link to this supposed video, but I am fairly sure it does not exist.
You are missing the simple point. Dao was trying to enforce justice outside of courts. Our system is not designed for that behavior. Even if he was right and they were wrong, the place to get justice is courts of law, not by physical altercations with enforcement officials. Dao deserved what he received for refusing to obey officials.
That pilots point is “ain’t our (UA) fault”. The pilot’s point is that they are UA and Republic is not and it was Republic who called the policemen who harmed the passenger. They are telling you this isn’t UA’s issue.
But it is because UA is responsible for their contractors even when they are not in UA union. The pilot union’s bread-n-butter is themselves and no one else not UA and certainly not the passengers.
As far as the injuries goes the only fact is he had a bloody nose. Every other injury claim concussions etc. are TBD.
“I do not encounter store employees running up to me as I leave the store and grabbing things that now belong to me because their fellow employees would like them. Thats usually called theft, and the airlines practice it with impunity,”
I’ll go out on a limb and and say I bet they dont sell your purchases to multiple other customers in case you dont use yours either.
In your mind, United is judge, jury and the penal institution. Fail to forfeit the seat that United’s own ToS say you’re entitled to remain in?
Verdict, guilty.
Sentence, loss of teeth, nose to be broken, head to be concussed, face to require reconstructive surgery.
Punishment to be carried out instantly, the idea of appealing the sentence strikes you as a JOKE.
And you don’t see how sick this is.
SMH.
Sorry, can’t reply. Still convulsed with laughter over your outrageous claim to not hate Dao.
So A, the pilots are too stupid to realize that United is on the hook, and B, if United is sued into oblivion, it will effect the pilots not at all.
The anti-Dao forces are not sending their best.
“Looks like the Chicago Dept of Aviation also suspended a supervisor in addition to the 3 officers involved. Sounds pretty bad for them when their own dept. disavowed their behavior.”
And the UA CEO has stated on video UA was in the wrong. Yet there’s folks on this thread that believe UA would prevail in a trial. LMAO!!!!!
All Dao had to do what his 3 companions did. They evacuated their seats and probably received high compensation for that. I have volunteered once to give up my seat when the airline offered me a seat on next flight plus a reward voucher. I would NOT have gotten into a physical altercation with airline officials for all the tea in China.
But Dao was stupid and arrogant. He was trying to enforce justice with physical altercation with enforcement officers.
Please do not ever represent me as a lawyer in a court of law, because You do not have the intellect to be a lawyer.
