USA Today is reporting that the government may shut down by this coming Friday if Congress does not provide President Trump with a bill to keep it going.
Congress returns Monday with just five days left to keep the government from shutting down, and President Trump is adding to the pressure by demanding money for a Southwest border wall and other controversial programs that threaten a bipartisan deal.
Lawmakers passed a stop-gap spending bill in December to fund federal agencies through midnight next Friday. Congressional leaders are now scrambling to reach a bipartisan compromise on new legislation to keep the money flowing through fiscal 2017, which ends on Sept. 30.
FOX News reports that President Trumps Budget Director will not say whether the President will mandate money for a border wall in this weeks discussions with Congress.
White House budget director Mick Mulvaney declined to say Sunday whether President Trump will insist Congress include money for his border wall in a spending bill or risk a government shutdown later this week.

I’m sure the MSM will never paint Mr. Trump’s Presidency in the accurate light of reality.
In units of $100 billions, the total debt has 200 units. So this is 1 unit out of 200. Gotta start somewhere.
The MSM (Main Subversive Media) are enemies of the people and the Republic.
Hey, a hundred billion saved is a hundred billion earned
Trump should one up them and say if we shutdown gov’t we will not pay workers who didn’t work. They will have to take vacation or go unpaid for their time off.
This will save a ton of money too.
Kind of like Obama’s “created or saved XXXXX jobs” :-).
Trump should start saying I made the country over $100B already.
I ignore the MSMLSD bunch so we’re even.
Watch Trump play the fools on Capitol Hill this week. He knows the Republicans are pooping in their pants to avoid a shutdown and he can get them to do anything...especially build the wall. The Dimwits, on the other hand are itching for a shutdown because it's their only real leverage and they want to prove that Trump's a failure. Lots of popcorn needed!
If Trump eliminates the debt, the uniparty media and others will say, see, the debt was no big deal at all, Trump was able to get rid of easily, it must not have been such a bad thing, and not at all as tough to get rid of as conservatives made us all fear it was.
That is how uniparty media and politicians would spin it.
If there is a shutdown, it is anybody’s fault but Trump...He laid out what is to be done and if Congress denies it, they are to blame....
. . . and if they do ever report it, they’ll simply report that he’s more popular than this really, really unpopular person.
We have the majority in both bodies of Congress, and still bipartisanship is the key word in all this.
Why?
We don’t need a single Democrat vote.
This is why Conservatives loathe the Republicans in Congress.
Thank you President Trump
Well WHY should they mention that little fact, after all everybody knows Trump is a failure and his impeachment will start as soon as the House is back in session - right?
Let the bastards choke on the truth so we can watch their industry die.
I don’t think this is correct at all.
January had a surplus of $51B, but this is smaller than last January’s surplus of $55B.
February had a deficit of $192 B, which is slightly smaller than last February’s deficit of $193 B.
January often has a surplus because of people who pay taxes on a calendar year or quarterly.
I don’t have March’s data. Last year, March had a deficit of $108 B.
Agree and the debt isn’t even close to the problem. It’s 200 trillion in unfunded liabilities that is the problem. Yet no one utters a peep about that
After reading this and Larry Schweikart’s article, I am rooting and praying for the Democrats and Republicans being unable to reach an agreement on the budget and debt ceiling. It’s the first time we’ve has someone in the Oval Office with the cajones to call everyone’s bluff.
I really don’t think it would hurt us, in that Trump won’t be bullied and will only use the opportunity to shut down ever non-essential part of government he can.
