Former Vice President Dick Cheney says Russia's alleged interference in the U.S. presidential election could be interpreted by some as an "act of war."
"There was a very serious effort made by Mr. Putin and his government, his organization, to interfere in major ways with our basic, fundamental democratic processes," Cheney said, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. "In some quarters that would be considered an act of war."
Cheney's statement comes at a time when both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives intelligence committees are investigating alleged Russian meddlin in the election that brought President Donald Trump to power.
U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia conducted a covert hacking operation to undermine the U.S. election process, which evolved into an attempt to help Trump win the White House. They also believe with "a high level of confidence" that Putin became personally involved in the campaign to interfere in the election.
Cheney's comments came up in the context of him speaking about the changing nature of the U.S. -Russia relationship being a threat to U.S. security and globalization.
In his speech to the Economic Times Global Business Summit in the Indian city of New Delhi on Monday, Cheney listed off some of Putin's recent actions as examples of how he believes Russia is flexing its muscles as a global power.

United States-1968?
Whose side is this jerk on?
RFK?
Chaney has had moments over the past two generations, when he had sensible things to say; this is not one of them.
This vague allegation against Russia & Putin in particular needs to be assessed in the context that Russia has morphed under Putin into something very different than it was from the Bolshevik Revolution until the 1990s. In what is almost certainly the single most important issue of our times, Putin understands the importance of preserving the ethnic cultures of the world's peoples.
Any Russian Government today, which would just passively accept the idea of America's self-destructing in favor of a globalist humanist/collectivist world order, would be as treasonous to Russian interests as the Clinton/Obama cabal is treasonous to our interests.
No, they do not have a license to directly interfere in our election, anymore than Obama or the Clintons have any license to continue to meddle in other nations internal affairs. But Chaney's remarks here strike me as a case of the pot vilifying the kettle.
I would not recommend spending your hard earned money for them.
So many Freepers taking the bait of an obviously twisted interview/selection of words. Good grief...
Globalist and draft dodger
“I get it. All the corruptocrats are terrified that Trump and his cabinet are going to expose the treasonous deeds of both parties for the past several decades, and they are willing to bring on a nuclear Armageddon to prevent that.”
Staggering, but there it is...
Not really. Dick said the phrase Act of War. Thats on him and it was a stupid thing to say.
So, they never tell us how russians “interfered.” But it is implied that they hacked the DNC and Hillary emails and exposed their high crimes and treasonous behavior. But it is an act of war?
How about if the US does it? Israel the Ukraine all sorts of places...were those acts of war?
It was more than anyone needed to see, and they ripped it off the web back then. They couldn’t take it out of the newspaper. That ice cream place may have become very popular among men.
Exactly. Now we have both parties chanting the Russia lie....must be getting close to something.
Lock them all up! Clintons, Obamas, Bushes, Cheneys....I don't care who they are or were.....lock them up!
Pray for President Trump's safety...
Assuming that the Russians did "hack" the DNC email (and I do NOT think they did), that would be no more an act of war than if they were to hack MY email. Or, if the US Government were to hack my email. Does Cheney think that ANY government hacking someone's email is an act of war? Or just the governments that the democrats think are "bad".
Well, that sure came out of left field.
Nope, not photoshopped. He was enjoying a local ice cream place and let down his guard, sitting with his legs opened.
When he approached his wife that could arguably also have been an act of war.
Nope. Ask Poppy Bush where he was on November 1963.
