The thief who swiped a Secret Service agents laptop targeted the agent in question and knew exactly what he was after ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.
Our sources say the thief -- whom they say is a man -- was caught on surveillance video pulling up to the agent's driveway in an Uber at around 3 AM Thursday. The video shows the man make a beeline for the agent's car, removing a backpack with the computer inside and then walking off. As we reported, the hard drive contained Trump Tower floor plans and evacuation protocols, but the agency insists there was no classified info inside.
The thief also made off with a passport and several Secret Service lapel pins. It's unclear what the thief was looking for if all the content was non-sensitive. We're told the video is grainy so it's hard to make out the thief's features, but it's definitely a lead.
Just heard those pins and ID items were found a block away.
Yup! The Secrect Service agent is complicit!
I hope President Trump retained all of his personal protection staff.
Trump needs to rely on his own security. The Secret Service has become a bunch of dangerous hacks.
Pins and ID stuff was found a block away.
Wasn’t there something more on that laptop when the story was originally reported-I seem to recall reading it was related to the “wiretap” fiasco and thought “uh huh. Someone wants to learn about how much Trump knows”.
That narrows down the suspect list.
Police should now issue an APB: "Attention All Units, Be on the lookout... Attention All Units, Suspect is a Man."
What's left out, though, that would be helpful... is this an XX man or an XY man, or, are we sure it's not a woman identifying as a man?
At 3 AM.
Sounds like the thief may have had ‘insider’ information that the laptop was in the vehicle.
How did he access the vehicle? Was it locked? Did he have a tool to release the lock? Did the agent [conveniently] leave the vehicle unlocked?
Makes one go ‘Hmmmmmm’.
This worries me as much as the stolen laptop.
Uber, it appears, is in this neck-deep.
According to one article her name is Marie Argentieri.
I can’t imagine the Secret Service does not encrypt their hard drives, which would render that data useless unless the thief has the password. The thief reportedly stole a back pack, so perhaps the laptop being stolen is a plausible distraction for what was really in the backpack.

He drove to the agent’s house in an Uber and then WALKED off? He left the Uber there?
The Secret Service leave important stuff...in the car? When parked in a driveway?
I had the same question.
That's what I've been thinking. I hope this agent is getting the full anal probe treatment.
Those things were found a block away....
Which tells me they have the password.
It was amusing to hear them “protect” her saying that she had only been with the FBI for two years...which is apparently considered “new” to the job.
Ping!
