MSNBC also caught up to Hillary Clinton at her regular stool at the Fat Intern Tavern in Chappaqua, New York to get her comment on this breaking story:

“If they were obtained illegally President Trump will have a free hand to dismantle the IRS.”

They could be from the State of New York. I think President Trump had to show his tax returns for certain deals. Bottom line is that they could be from another source than the IRS.

If it’s the 1040 for 2005, it might just be tied to an investigation by Preet Bharara? It’s decidedly weird to have it go back that far unless there are “problems”.

Good point. Timing is VERY interesting. Why would should anybody but tantruming Democrats care now about Trump’s taxes? He’s not on the ballot for 4 years. This will be ancient news by then.

It is faaaaaaaaaaaaar more likely that some pencil necked moron, in the IRS, making a mistake/s than the CPA/person who filled out even a relatively simple tax return...let alone something as complicated as Trump's tax returns.

Of course it is against the law to have an unauthorized copy of someone's tax returns. We are so far away from the rule of law that many have no idea that the law was broken. 26 U.S. Code § 6103 - Confidentiality and disclosure of returns and return information:
