This track from his 1957 disk “‘Round About Midnight” features an all star cast. John Coltrane’s sax is a revelation, Paul Chambers’ bass is exceptional, and Red Garland’s solo gives me a bad case of pianist envy.

The place was packed and I was skritchin my head over why.

An old soldier I never met died
There was no public notice. but they all showed and there was a hella wake, place was packed

Dinner was kings ranch chicken, corn casserole, green beans and poppyseed cake or cinnamon coffee cake
