A/V sync is the curse of the digital era.
What happens so often is the audio is passed through in real time and the video undergoes multiple passes to correct for HD formatting, conversion to SD or other TV systems and this can delay the video 2, 3, or more than 4 frames. That can be almost a quarter of a second. This will occur in the cable system, satellite uplink, etc.
The technical solution is to delay the audio to match the video delays, but too many automated systems just DON’T CARE.
Yes. Networks CAN correct this, but CAN willfully place the blame on any part of the signal. i.e. ‘not my job’ to fix it
Good old analog TV never had this sync issue.
