this body armor also stops cosmic rays, x-rays, gamma rays meaning it will make it possible to ride in a space craft for extended periods of time without being killed by radiation of one kind or another.

Pretty cool. Might be a lot lighter than lugging around a plate carrier.

That’s what the article left out; the weight. The second most important point of the product is excluded.

It is really neat that they told the world how it is made.

I’m guessing weight won’t be such an issue where it’s intended to be used.

Decimates? That word does not mean what you think it means, Ms. Barrie.

So put a layer of it into the crew capsules as well.
As an aside, this still sounds like it might be too bulky to use as a replacement material for my tinfoil hat.

Gamma rays?
That will be useful since gamma ray exposure can cause your tonsils to grow back.

I doubt it stops gamma very well. It takes mass, whether an inch of lead, five inches of steel, 20 inches of concrete, 40 inches of water. Beer’s Law applies to gamma.
The Zeigler Equation applies to cosmic rays. In some cases you get MORE radiation into your target as the cosmic ray decelerates in your shield and makes more, lower energy, photons by bremsstrahlung radiation. Another curious thing about cosmic rays is that at lower energies, they can deposit more energy per length than at higher energies, so by putting in say a 200 mil aluminum shield, you can increase the impact of the cosmic ray (shielding can modulate Linear Energy Transfer, LET).
