Presidential press conferences will never be the same again.
Donald Trump, giving press conferences as president, is like a cross between Fidel Castros long-windedness and machismo and Christopher Walkens theatrical presence and nobody else in the room can compete with that.
This was on display Thursday, when after a weeks worth of his administration being buffeted by a hurricane of negative media coverage some of it deserved, some much less so the president turned himself loose in the East Room.
An hour and 15 minutes later, he walked out of what could be described as a smoldering ruin.
Trump touted his administrations achievements and advertised major reforms on the way in health care and tax policy, hinted that hell have a new immigration/travel order next week to moot the judicial assault on his constitutional power by the Ninth Circuit, announced a new Labor Secretary nominee to replace Andy Puzder Alex Acosta, who is (we learned) not related to CNN White House reporter Jim Acosta and absolutely took the mainstream media to task for their snarling behavior since his inauguration. It was a freewheeling, wide-open, raucous barroom brawl of a presser, with Trump taking on every questioner with swagger and New York moxie Ari Fleischer called it a friendly hostility while pushing back against narrative after narrative.
Trumps effectiveness in punishing the Democrat press for its feeding frenzy surrounding the Mike Flynn resignation could be seen by the reaction. Jake Tapper accused him of whining. Shepard Smith cast aside any pretense of not objectivity, but composure. Chuck Todd screamed about his delegitimization of the press, calling it un-American and not a laughing matter.

Ping.
I heard Don Lemons show wasn’t on last night.
I am so tired of that wise ass smarty look of Major Garrett’s (CBS). Just a snide, smirky, smarmy condescending arrogance that just oozes hate. He reeks of it.
I’d pull his damn WH credentials.
Bunch of drama queens,
EVERY SINGLE QUESTION from the media was like:
“Mr. President, how do you have any credibility when...”
and “Were you lying when...”
and “How can people trust you when...”
and “Are you an a$$hole because...”
It’s almost like they shared a template that said they had to frame their question in that form.
SHOW ME ONE SINGLE TIME WHEN THE BEGAN A QUESTION TO OBAMA THIS WAY
He has spent his whole life jousting with the NY Press corps, union bosses and politicians. He knows how to handle them and shows it.
Anyone who hasn’t seen it should find it on Youtube. Yeah, it’s over an hour long, but it’s better than most movies. Outstanding job by our President!
Totally agree, his reports to the CBS this morning staff are totally full of hateful lies, totally fake.
No notes. No teleprompter. Totally at ease and in command.
Like a Chief Executive.
The revelations were trud but the story is fake. Media just can’t figure that one out. Dolts.
Real classified info about phone conversations is true.
The “narratives” being pushed are “Russia rules Trump” and those are fake in any way, shape, or form.
Like a boss.
President, Commander in Chief, Leader...Mr Trump has earned the right to those titles and many more.
President DJT continues to defy critics and inspire supporters as he demonstrates character, courage, humility and brilliance. He is towering above all those who surround him.
I love this man, I feel so blessed to be alive right now.
We should actually appreciate the fact that the MSM’s hostility has become so obnoxiously over the top. Fewer and fewer people, even among the LIVs, are unable to see the wholesale bias. I read recently that 32% of the American public still claims the press is at least somewhat believable. The MSM is working hard to get that number down into the twenties.
They forgot to ask: “Do you still beat your wife?”
I always say he reminds me of ‘Give’m Hell Harry’
He read from notes for the prepared speech, but the Q&A was all ad lib.
Agreed, it won't be long before Nightly MSM News is indistinguishable from SNL.
For a long, long time, FReepers have dreamed of a pol who would stand up to the press. Even though we are concerned about conservative, constitutionalist issues - particularly since Trump has had a history of support for some Democrat policies - we have to be pleased about his presidency so far. He has done a lot of things we can support - and has already undone a lot of Obama’s damage.
