After nearly three decades in L.A. County, Nestlé will soon move its headquarters from California to Virginia. This food services giant with an estimated $235 billion in assets worldwide will by the end of 2018 remove 1,200 jobs from a state that relies heavily on income taxes to fund its massive public sector.
Nestlé's exodus follows other big employers, including Toyota, Campbell's Soup, Dunn-Edwards Paints, and eBay which took with them tens of thousands of jobs and mirrors the flight of mom-and-pop operations, entrepreneurs, families, and individuals who have ditched the once Golden State for places where the weather is less clement but the business and tax climate is welcoming. With Republicans, conservatives, and Reagan Democrats hightailing it out of high-priced California, the remaining statist majority has a voice that is progressively increasing in volume, and with it, the call for a "Calexit" secession from the Union grows louder. With some cynicism and a bit of righteous indignation, many Americans long to look westward to San Francisco, L.A., and Sacramento and wave goodbye and good riddance.

CA will be there own country for a short time. Within a decade, Mexico will try to take it over. At that point, the US might counter them. If Mexico succeeds, however, the Liberals will find themselves with jack squat. All their property and wealth that can’t be moved out of CA will be confiscated and redistributed. But will they learn? No. They will just migrate somewhere else and start the same cycle over again.
Excellent post and I thank you for it!
I’ve been reading for decades that CA is on the verge of economic collapse. Yet they are the 6th largest economy in the world by GDP. So something must be amiss in these predictions.
California has over 30 million people and 55 electoral votes so the strongest opposition to California leaving the US would be liberal people not conservative people.
I’m not too well clued up on this but surely the political power of California, its representatives and its electoral votes are ultimately dependent on its population. If the population is fleeing from the State, then surely its political clout will diminish too? Or does it not work that way?
Are we all happy-I mean this is the straight jacket way- that we are fighting among each other?
This is what the elites want. To break up America. They’ve brainwashed enough people to make this happen.
Given that I am a 3rd generation native of this once Golden State, I can emphatically state, that CA is FUBAR.
I don’t give a rip what MOB RULE democrat voters do, but I will sue the bejesus out of the state for relocation expenses, mental distress, hardship, etc., UNLESS the “UTOPIAN basket of freebies” for the “underprivileged” meets all my expectations and then some!
Illegal aliens are quickly populating the state.
California will become a Silicon Rust Belt (SRB).
Remember Pittsburgh and the Ohio Valley of the 1960s and 70s.
Don’t forget California is broke.
Silicon doesn’t rust..... silicon is forever
Some of the southern states thought the same of Lincoln and Grant. Nobody is calling for crushing them, simply for recognizing the reality that California values are no longer compatible with American values and the illicit leadership needs to be changed to bring them back in harmony with American values.
Look at the weighted average of the demographics of those fleeing California. The cream of the educated and income strata has read their tax bill and 401K.
They have decided to leave....Econ 101.
Now, remember there are no empty houses. The state is being back-filled with walk-ins and no-ID motor voters.
Actually, it does. It just takes longer. The end product is sand (SiO2).
Its traces and components do, however.
Rendering it only “fused sand.”
Now, that is reasonable idea.
Let the 53 morph into 1.
Sand is quartz that has been crushed. It did not oxidize.
Give California an exit plan.
Do both - let the sensible counties become their own state provided those in the LA/SF/Sacremento axis secede. Lots of good national assets go to waste if we lose that part of California, but that’s better than letting those idiots have a disproportional influence over the rest of the country by tilting the playing field to socialist extremists running for the presidency. And the presence of a state of Jefferson as the remaining 50th state gives counties in the new country of California something to affiliate with if they come to their senses in the future.
As others have stated here, an independent California would soon be subsumed by Mexico - if a rump state of Jefferson remained in the union, again, other counties that initially left the US would have an easier time getting back, having learned their lesson, by joining up with that state of Jefferson.
CA secedes from he Union. The US Govt. has 90 days to vacate all military bases. All equipment not removed after 90 days becomes the property of CA. I don not want anything holding this up, The other 49 states will be sooooo much better off without that lunatic asylum parading around as state holding us back.
Or back to 49.
