After nearly three decades in L.A. County, Nestlé will soon move its headquarters from California to Virginia. This food services giant with an estimated $235 billion in assets worldwide will by the end of 2018 remove 1,200 jobs from a state that relies heavily on income taxes to fund its massive public sector.
Nestlé's exodus follows other big employers, including Toyota, Campbell's Soup, Dunn-Edwards Paints, and eBay which took with them tens of thousands of jobs and mirrors the flight of mom-and-pop operations, entrepreneurs, families, and individuals who have ditched the once Golden State for places where the weather is less clement but the business and tax climate is welcoming. With Republicans, conservatives, and Reagan Democrats hightailing it out of high-priced California, the remaining statist majority has a voice that is progressively increasing in volume, and with it, the call for a "Calexit" secession from the Union grows louder. With some cynicism and a bit of righteous indignation, many Americans long to look westward to San Francisco, L.A., and Sacramento and wave goodbye and good riddance.

No on 51....let them be their own country.
Revoke their statehood, declare them a territory and replace their 53 congress critters and 2 senators with one non-voting delegate to represent them in the House, the same as Guam or American Samoa.
As collections of counties (the more conservative inland ones) get their fiscal act together, let them reapply for admission as separate states. The lawless left wing areas can remain a U.S. territory until such time, if any, that they do the same.
Without 55 electoral votes, their importance is suddenly put into proper perspective.
You are right this solves nothing. We need to get the “crazy uncle” away form us completely. CA needs to be its own country. AMF.
OK.

I am a refugee myself from the Soviet Socialistic Republic of California. I was born in Anaheim, spent most of my childhood in Southern California, and had my first job after college in Tustin, California. In 1995 I emigrated out of California and have never returned to live because of the high taxes, high home prices, and lackluster economy thanks to the socialistic tendencies of its leaders. I now live in Texas.
No, we should not have Calexit but preserve the Union. When the raise the Confederate flag with their cries for Calexit I remind all that such a flag should be put in a museum.
Anyone with nay brains would see that if CA leaves the Union everyone would be better off. We should be pushing for this to happen. Talk of war is stupid and silly.
Oh no! Another wall!
Fantastic idea!
Note also the 1964 date corresponds with the turning point for the Golden State. It has tacked ever leftward since then end now it accelerates toward the end; much like Venezuela.
There is a precedent on this. Its time to start Reconstruction now and skip all the bloodshed of a civil war over California. Its my home and I voted for prop 187 in 1994. But since then its been overrun with socialists and illegal aliens voting in corruption. So I fled for the sake of having a good future. Nevertheless the people who are entitled to having their Constitutional.government preserved need to have California cured of the socialism blight. May God bless California to a lawful part of this great country of ours.
Stupid idea. I guess you were rooting for the Kremlin to kill millions to keep the USSR intact in 1991? Zeig Heil.
You may live in Texas but from your comment regarding the Confederate Flag, you’re not from Texas.
Jefferson needs to include the Central Valley and some of Northern California is just too liberal to be included. The map of Jefferson needs to be redrawn. And if California calves off a 51st state then you surely will see Puerto Rico become 52 just as statehood for Alaska begat statehood for Hawaii. 2 new republican senators won’t go over without 2 New dhimmicrat senators
Winner. Excellent. Made my day. Thank you.
Without those electoral votes we have a far better chance of keeping Trump.
I think in a few short years CA government will collapse under the weight of employee pension costs, entitlements, etc. along with the exodus of taxpayers. There will be rioting and bloodshed. That is when the appropriate action by the federal govt can take place.
