The former head of President Donald Trump’s transition team at the Environmental Protection Agency said Thursday he expects the new administration to seek significant budget and staff cuts.

Myron Ebell said in an interview with The Associated Press that Trump is likely to seek significant reductions to the agency’s workforce — currently about 15,000 employees nationwide. Ebell, who left the transition team last week, declined to discuss specific numbers of EPA staff that could be targeted for pink slips.

Asked what he would personally like to see, however, Ebell said slashing the agency’s size by about half would be a good start. …

What are you a liberal? :) jk

I ASSUME they do have SOME important functions.

Industrial companies aren’t angels and 2000 should be plenty to keep on eye on any toxic dumping.

EPA is a politically-driven disaster. The Left has far more than abused the value of realistic environmental stewardship.

I can hardly wait until all this savings starts to slow and reverse the debt wheel that has been spinning so fast!

>> Industrial companies aren’t angels ...

In my industrial days, I was very careful about waste. And not out of fear of the EPA thugs — often dramatic a-holes equipped with semi-automatic weapons... but because I respect the land on which I live. That said, not every industrialist shared my attitude (not that I have any detailed recollection.)

President Trump has done more for America in a few days than all previous politicians did in all these 100 plus last years combined.

Politicians especially this past century have sold out America as in NAFTA, grew government every day of every year, let in 3rd world immigrants every year, more gov , more gov regulations, more taxes and so on terrible things against America

Eliminate the entire structure, completely.

The EPA was built as a bull**** excuse to expand the fed gov’s power and for no other reason.

There’s not a single dang thing the EPA does that states can’t do for themselves for far less cost, far far less idiotic and purposely economically destructive impact.

And when two or more states can’t agree or play nice with each other, then the federal court comes into play.

The EPA is and never was anything but bull****.

...the agency’s workforce — currently about 15,000 employees nationwide.

I'd say that's 14,950 too many, give or take five or ten.

My dad opened a small business once. Shortly thereafter, he got a visit from the city, who told him he had to add some greenery, according to the EPA. The business had a tiny strip of land next to the curb. They told him that EPA regulations required that there be some sort of greenery on that strip of dirt. (It was that kind of dirt that wouldn’t even grow weeds). They actually told him, “You can stick a few fake evergreens in it. They don’t have to be real, they just have to be green.”

2000?

I don't see anywhere near that many being justifiable.

200 real scientists who can read real scientific reports and analyze data are all it takes to give out research contracts and see whether something is harmful to the environment or not. Once a genuine report is in, which could take a decade, then they could analyze the results and find suitable unbiased people to propose solutions.

Only after all potential solutions are in is there need for anyone else and that anyone else should be the OMB to decide how realistic solutions are based on a realistic costs/benefit analysis.

"I think the administration is likely to start proposing cuts to the 15,000 staff, because the fact is that a huge amount of the work of the EPA is actually done by state agencies. It's not clear why so many employees are needed at the federal level."

Music to my ears. Hooray!
