WASHINGTON - Young immigrants currently protected from deportation will be quickly removed from the country by President Donald Trumps plan to boost deportations, even if the new president doesnt target them directly, according to a former senior immigration official in the Obama administration.
Democratic leaders and advocates within the immigration community are bracing for Trump on Monday to eliminate several of Obamas executive actions on immigration, including the deferred action program, known as DACA, that protects an estimated 750,000 immigrants brought here illegally as children.
Trump is not expected to immediately launch raids targeting the students, but fears among so-called Dreamers could grow as Trump executes plans to deport more than 2 million immigrants with any form of criminal records. In the process hes inevitably going to sweep up many DACA students who will unlikely have the safeguards to protect themselves.

Doesn't being in the country Illegally automatically make one a criminal?
They trusted a lawless president and publicly self identified.
Or ANY chance of obtaining citizenship, EVER. Or their offspring, all flagged in some system
I agree as well.
Yes you are. There have been many standing in line while these people cut in front of them.
Honestly, I hate illegal immigration and how it has destroyed life here in SoCal.
However, the last group of illegals I would want actually deported would be the “dreamers,” young adults brought here as tiny children, some not ever knowing they were illegal. I agree, give them a chance to do military service and become Americans. There really aren’t too many of this kind of illegal.
Theres no need to deport anyone.
Just start jailing some employers pronto.
.———
Seriously.
1. Tell all hospitals to stop the bleeding, make sure they are breathing, and nothing else.
2. Charge employers $1000 per illegal per day, including for nannies and gardeners.
3. Ask for residency papers for their parents before any child can attend school.
4. Ask all police to check residency papers and have them turn over all illegals to ICE.
Self deportation will happen. It will be a swarm.
‘Dreamers’ sounds so much nicer than ‘Anchor Babies’, huh? It’s all about language-games when you’re arguing with Liberals.
I KNOW they have to go, but maybe they could serve in the military or pay a monstrous fine and not be able to vote?
Im gonna get zotted arent I?
You probably got zotted a time or two - I didn't check - but you are correct in that it would be a disaster for many who had nothing to do with their being here illegal.
It's why things have to be phased and start with the scum, followed by the trash, and figure out the best way to handle the rest.
As a Security Officer (both as active duty and as DOD civilian) and managing the local security clearance system, it was not rare to discover that a young recruit had been told all his/her life that the parents were legal citizens only to find out during the investigative process that it wasn't so. What to do with illegals who think they're citizens and want to serve in the military?
The "kick them all out" crowd doesn't realize the complications involved.
Once upon a time, criminals (depending on crime of course) were sometimes given a choice between jail, or military service. Don’t know if that’s still done, but in the case of young illegals who had no say in coming here illegally, an accommodation could be made.
It’s a complicated subject. And I agree; no free pass to citizenship for the illegals.
Do what I told mine to do, GET A JOB and save your money. My parents didn’t have money to send us to college. I didn’t have money to send mine to college.
Now I’m older, and have a little money it’s in a trust fund for my grandson 15, he’s allowed to draw for books and tuition, 1 $500 med ER, any thing else he will work for. It can be used as Tech or College. Any left over can be drawn at 35.
Illegal aliens are barred from joining the military.
Citizens and legal resident aliens only.
That happened during the draft days, today, people with criminal records are rejected.
No accommodations should be made.
We either have the rule of law or we don’t.
In the case of people brought here by their parents, it is their parents responsibility.
If we don’t deport the kids, how do we deport the parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.?
We don’t want to break up families, we should deport them all.
We changed the laws to accommodate those breaking them in 1986 and it resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens and a general disregard for ALL of our laws by foreigners. It is always bad policy to reward illegal aliens.
750,000 have signed up for DACA, that is too many.
Illegal aliens are barred from the military as it should be.
Anchor babies are children born here to illegal aliens, the so-called DREAMers, named after the DREAM Act, which never passed so it is not an Act, was for children brought here as children.
We should not pass any new laws to benefit those breaking them.
We tried that in 1986 and it resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens.
I agree with with what you stated. And you have some experience with the situation.
Actually, what you said was SHOCKING and probably devastating when the person found out. I would have been at 20.
I thought dreamers were much younger. I misunderstood the term.
What is the approximate age group of “dreamers”.
We have to keep in mind that we probably will have another nutty left wing president one day, even if it’s in 40 years.
So the vast majority have to go.
Some of the young ones looked like they had been kicked in the stomach - they were afraid they would not be allowed to stay in the military and that their parents would be in trouble because of them
Geez man. Never remotely occurred to me. It’s heartbreaking. I don’t think that changes our stance on illegal immigration in general but these are different cases. It’s very unusual when one-size-fits-all. It just never occurred to me that what you’ve seen could happen.
