WASHINGTON - Young immigrants currently protected from deportation will be quickly removed from the country by President Donald Trumps plan to boost deportations, even if the new president doesnt target them directly, according to a former senior immigration official in the Obama administration.
Democratic leaders and advocates within the immigration community are bracing for Trump on Monday to eliminate several of Obamas executive actions on immigration, including the deferred action program, known as DACA, that protects an estimated 750,000 immigrants brought here illegally as children.
Trump is not expected to immediately launch raids targeting the students, but fears among so-called Dreamers could grow as Trump executes plans to deport more than 2 million immigrants with any form of criminal records. In the process hes inevitably going to sweep up many DACA students who will unlikely have the safeguards to protect themselves.

Those who are willing to let these people stay have big hearts and small minds.
Not “dreamers”
Invaders.
Boy, I hate to admit it, but somebody who’s 20 or older and was brought here as a kid, this is all they know.
I KNOW they have to go, but maybe they could serve in the military or pay a monstrous fine and not be able to vote?
I’m gonna get zotted aren’t I?
I KNOW I KNOW, they have to go.
Will they be able to take their Obama-Phones with them? Will they work?
All I had to read to declare absolute BS from this article: “according to a former senior immigration official in the Obama administration.”
Lies, damn lies, and statements by democrats, all equal by example.
They are taking resources AWAY from our own kids esp. with regard to college expenses.
I agree with you.
Buck up and use your mind.
They are not undocumented, most of them have multiples sets of fraudulent documents.
They are not immigrants, they did not apply to be immigrants.
They are illegal aliens and the law says they should be deported.
And they should be deported.
Criminals first, but we should not wait until they kill someone before the deporting the rest.
It took 30 years to accumulate 30 million illegal aliens, it will take a while to remove them all, but we should remove them all.
After we show we are serious about enforcement, many will leave on their own before we deport them, particularly if they ever want to come back. After a deportation they must wait 10 years to apply.
Give them (the older teens and young adults) the opportunity to become citizens. It will be their choice. I’m sure given a choice, most if not all will choose to do so.
Now, the recent arrivals will have to return to their countries with their families and come in the correct and legal way.
There are many people waiting to become citizens who have gone about it legally, and it is not fair or equitable for those who have not to take primacy.
But, for children who came to the US as infants or toddlers and have grown up knowing nowhere else, it would be cruel to deport them to their countries of origin and probably dangerous for them IMHO.
You would send an old friend of mine’s mother back to Italy at 80 because she’s not a citizen, wouldn’t you? :)
You scare me :)
I agree with you. There should be a way for these people to serve the country for a given period of time and satisfy that debt. This would simplify the deportation efforts. It would also take some wind out of the sails of protesters.
Those people who have been deported and have re-entered illegally over three times, should simply be locked up on someplace like GITMO. Same fate for illegals who have killed via drunk driving AFTER already being convicted of a DWI. Deportation won’t work with these folks who pay no attention to the law of the land.
So they admit the ‘Dreamers’ are criminals LOL!
The media were saying ‘Dreamers’ were innocent children...
now they have to tell the truth.
Illegal aliens are barred from the military, only citizens and legal resident aliens may serve.
It is their parents responsibility for their situation, not ours. They can go home with their parents, we don’t want to split up families.
If we start making exceptions we will never deport anyone.
Make employing illegals a jail time felony. Same for spending Medicaid money on them or issuing drivers licenses. They will be out of here by Xmas.
No. You have a valid point. Someone brought here illegally at 2 through an illegal action of their parents and the willful ignorance of US law by our own government has really created a no mans land for these ppl. That’s why the whole illegal immigration problem is so sad. You have people willfully breaking the law and the government willfully choosing not to enforce it. So you have a situation where everyone is wrong but nobody is accountable. Unfortunately they have to go. But Trump can make this happen just by enforcing federal law and not specifically “targeting” these individuals.
Is she here legally?
I’m not opposed to letting those who have been here 30+ years, stay.
But no SS or Medicare.
I have to agree, though most won’t.
They didn’t ASK to be raised in a different country.
Barring any criminal past, give ‘em a shot.
I’m against citizenship, but maybe I’m wrong.
I don’t think he intends to target them. If they avoid committing any felonies, they will avoid his hit list.
If a “dreamer” has committed a felony, he may as well pack his bag and go visit grandma now.
Ho hum...
A former Obama appointee “thinks” things will get “worse”.
Not really “news”, is it?
