Once upon a time, criminals (depending on crime of course) were sometimes given a choice between jail, or military service. Don’t know if that’s still done, but in the case of young illegals who had no say in coming here illegally, an accommodation could be made.
It’s a complicated subject. And I agree; no free pass to citizenship for the illegals.
Illegal aliens are barred from joining the military.
Citizens and legal resident aliens only.
That happened during the draft days, today, people with criminal records are rejected.
No accommodations should be made.
We either have the rule of law or we don’t.
In the case of people brought here by their parents, it is their parents responsibility.
If we don’t deport the kids, how do we deport the parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc.?
We don’t want to break up families, we should deport them all.
We changed the laws to accommodate those breaking them in 1986 and it resulted in 10 times the number of illegal aliens and a general disregard for ALL of our laws by foreigners. It is always bad policy to reward illegal aliens.
