"This year's data clearly reflects retirees' location preferences. We are seeing more retirees than ever decide to relocate, and as a result, new retirement hubs are popping up in Western and Southern states," said Michael A. Stoll, economist, professor in the Department of Public Policy at the University of California, Los Angeles. "Interestingly enough, these retirees are leaving at such a fast pace that the movement of millennials to urban areas in the Midwest and Northeast is being overshadowed."

I know I may not be in the norm. But I came to northern Wisconsin to spend the rest of my days. If you can handle winter, I got three great seasons and a wide open Lake Michigan shores to myself and a few neighbors. Tourists are rarely an issue. Land values are cheap. Taxes are low. And the people are fabulous. And so is the wild life and fishing.

Vermont inched out Oregon for the no 2. position Vermont, where winter weather lasts from Halloween to May Day? Incredible!

I am glad Oregon dropped a slot. Stupid liberals moving here have destroyed this state and turned it into the People’s Republic of Portlandistan.
Yes, the rest of the state is rural and conservative, but the envirowackos and commies in Salem and Portland run this state and they suck at it.

The Northeast continues to experience a moving deficit with New Jersey (63 percent outbound), New York (63 percent)....Not measured, because they don't use moving vans when they move, are young people moving to a state to find their first jobs.
NYC for example is being swamped with those kinds of move-ins.

Wherever there is sun and sand, vicious criminals are close at hand.
Where bitter winds in winter blow, fewer low-lifes are inclined to go.

Low crime, polite and friendly peeps, and my vote actually counts for something.

My dream is to retire in or near Rapid City, SD or in the Black Hills. Fishing, nature, pretty good weather even in the wintertime.

Not sure why anyone would move TO Oregon:
- Among the *highest income tax in USA* - top rate 9.9%.
- Ranked #27 in Property Tax Rates
- yes, it has no sales tax
- Libtards in charge of government.
- History of highly corrupt leaders.
- Former Portland Mayor and Oregon Gov. Neil Goldschmidt admitted, after leaving office, that he was having sex with his 13 year old babysitter while mayor of Portland.
- Former 4 term Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber was forced to resign after serious charges of corruption involving his fiancee came to light and he was caught deleting emails.
- Former Portland mayor Sam Adams was outed as having an inappropriate gay affair with a adolescent just before becoming mayor. "I didn't kiss him until he turned 18" was his defense.
- Oregon State Police participate in the fatal ambush of Levoy Finicum, a peaceful protester who was spokesman for the Mahler occupation in 2016. To date the details of the shooting have been hidden from the public. The first trial of the other protesters ended in complete acquittal of all charges for the defendants.
- Over-the-top zoning laws make it impossible to build on most rural property, other than improvements.
- State politics has shifted to solid left in the last 10-15 years. Voted Dem in every presidential election since 1988. Almost no GOP positions at State level
- State Budget Problems - projected $1.4 billion deficit in 2016 (population only 3.3 million people).
- Biggest city vying with Berkeley, CA for the most ridiculous libtard enclave in USA, as evidenced by 5 days of riots in the city after Trumps election victory.
- Gun laws trending in a bad direction under massive Bloomberg push. (Like CA and WA.)
I realize politics isn't everything, but I'd be really careful about putting myself under the jurisdiction of the Communist Commissars who run the State of Oregon.
It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't live here (as a Conservative).

I just went to my doctor today, for a checkup, and I got the “old speech” with all kinds of bizzare questions about falling and continence. Well, I’m on the doorstep, no question, but I still haven’t retired!
The point being, when I do retire, which should be soon, I ain’t goin’ nowhere. That is until somebody starts hauling us off to someplace without our comprehending why. Could happen.
Ah, Bartelby! Ah, humanity!

There are now large areas of Florida that are dangerous to live in.
If you aren’t living within site of the beach itself, it’s just not worth it anymore.

For the last 4 years we’ve vacationed in the Black Hills with a goal of moving there in a couple years. The real estate market does not have a lot to offer. A medium grade home outside the city goes for $300 - $400,000 which will have about 5 acres.
And yes, it’s real white there, and I am not talking about snow.
