House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi is calling the decision to tap Ben Carson as head of Housing and Urban Development a “disconcerting and disturbingly unqualified choice.”

Pelosi says the country deserves someone with “relevant experience” to protect the rights of homeowners and renters.

In her statement released Monday, she says “there is no evidence that Dr. Carson brings the necessary credentials to hold a position with such immense responsibilities and impact on families and communities across America.”

Ben Carson grew up in Public Housing. Not sure any other HUD head had that experience.

Tens of thousands of people grew up in public housing. Are they all qualified to be HUD secretary?

Just to nitpick, there is NO Presidential Medal of Honor. That is soley bestowed from Congress. Still, he earned many high rewards, the biggest being the Presidential Medal of Freedom. That is the highest civilian award possible. And Pelosi doesn't think he has the juice to manage HUD?

Absolutely agree. However, he is a pediatric neurosurgeon and became the youngest chief of pediatric neurosurgery in the country at age 33. That means he supervised others. That and his incredible intellect makes me believe he can easily administer HUD. I would have preferred Trump nominate Dr. Carson as Secretary of Health and Human Services. I believe him to wasted on HUD, which I also believe should be folded into HHS.
