Corporations don’t pay taxes, their customers and employees do.

A simple truth that is never propagated to be understood by the populace. Sarah has the right idea about not giving in to what amounts as her view of blackmail, but just how out of balance is the desire of politicians to inflate services of a normal nature that cost a business owner so much more for the same than it does for say a homeowner and factory worker?

The problem is that they use it like a class warfare club but the only people being hit are the employees and customers who actually pay for it in the long run. Businesses are simply tax collection devices.

This article is right ideologically but wrong in terms of where we are.

We are indesperate times. America is almost destroyed economically.

Now Trump will makes intervention to bring America a back to an operating mass in its economy. This promotes a positive atmosphere for business and its associated risk taking.

So as far as ideology goes which is not far enough, the pragmatic will now jump start the nation.Tell us what to do, not what NOT to do. Policy needs to be applied. Ideas alone will not get the job done.

To the author of this far out purist piece: Attract capital with Policy? What do you think Trump is doing, playing fiddle sticks?

This will take a few years, and purists simply need to relax, and enjoy whats coming.

Sorry Sarah, you just don’t get it.

Maybe your future is in judging beauty pageants.

This is the piece FR is getting all worked up over. Geez, it’s just an opinion piece and a right one at that. And I don’t read anywhere she called the Trump/Carrier deal crony capitalism. I think that’s a conclusion liberals made and some folks here are falling for hook, line and sinker.

What Trump offered to Carrier is what I want to see offered to ALL companies. Lower taxes and less regulation.

Crony capitalism, the definition doesn’t fit in my book.

Maybe some FReepers should read it.

(1) How is this “crony capitalism” and (2) I guess Governor Palin didn’t get a role she wanted in the Trump admin?

Since we don’t even know if a “deal” was made this is a feckless article by Mrs Palin

“But this time-tested truth assumes we’re operating on a level playing field.”

Does she really, really believe that NAFTA creates a level playing field?

When the rubber meets the road, business theorists lose to reality.

Business is done by people, not companies. That is, business is done by people not companies.

The term crony capitalists is sour grapes and anguish by those who have no ability to do anything but carp.

It is likely that Trump knows the Chairman of United technologies and called him on the phone. His message, we need a little help in Indiana. Are you counting on the military contracts for next year?

the deal was essentially done

It has been reported that Palin said the deal was an example of crony capitalism. From reading the excerpt, I see the reports were false.

She makes valid, constructive points.

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. I get tired of listening to these “conservatives” talking about theoretical ideas.

Fact is Mexico, China and others are taking advantage of our extreme regulations and high taxes to simply steal away our businesses. And they’re succeeding thanks to the globalist who deliberately want companies to move off shore. Offering Carrier and others tax breaks and incentives in the short term is no different than offering tax decreases and elimination of regulations. Once the taxes and regulations are in line with other countries then I could agree with Palin’s concerns. But not now.

I say Merry Christmas Carrier employees!!! It is money better spent then on illegals.

On the side: Do you think we’ll have to change the name Indiana to Native American-ana? Political correctness you know.

(or should we just throw all that crap out)!

Sometimes Palin should just keep her mouth shut. She’s not helping herself. She needs to run a local radio station in Alaska.

I am no fan of Palin, I used to really DISlike her but she is right on this issue. We all remember Obama’s interference with Solyndra? There must be an even playing field which Trump has been saying all along. No special deals for anyone; that is the American way and the fair way. I don’t know what Carrier was offered and haven’t really been following it but I hope it was on the up and up. Joe Schmoe down the street and his little business is just as important as any other business person. This is the American way.

In Arlington, TX, tax breaks were given to the huge General Motors plant years ago to keep them here. This is not something new - it works. And so do thousands of people in the DFW area thankfully.
