U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke on the telephone on Friday with Philippines leader Rodrigo Duterte and invited him to the White House next year during a "very engaging, animated" talk, an aide to Duterte said.
The call lasted just over seven minutes, Duterte's special advisor, Christopher Go, said in a text message to media.
The conversation came amid tension and uncertainty between the United States and the Philippines after months of anti-American rhetoric from Duterte, fueled by his anger over the Obama administration's concerns about his deadly war on drugs.
Though Duterte has spoken of his optimism for better ties with Trump in the Oval Office, it has not tempered his criticism of Washington, with almost daily tirades about what he calls U.S. "hypocrisy".
Go, better known as Bong Go, said Duterte had invited Trump to come to his country next year when it chairs the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). It is customary for a U.S. president to attend....

Not surprising to me. Deterte seems like sort of a Filipino version of Trump. Not necessarily a complete ally or clone, but he is to the Philippines what Trump is to the U.S.
“Go, better known as Bong Go,”
Can’t make it up.
Yes, it is true. The are like two peas in a pod..................
A nutcase to be sure but a true leader will take each world leader as they come and deal with them man-to-man, or man-to-woman as the case may be and not take backhanded, pussified shots like our current failed president.
We maxed it with Cardinal Sin of course.
We Filipinos have a way with names. An odd way.

The Philippines is plagued with meth addiction. Seriously, at least 10% of all men are addicted to the drug. Duarte is fighting to remove this menace, and while his tactics haven’t always been kind, he is doing what he can.
He’s a nationalist that fights Islamists and wants to make his country better by fighting criminals and drug cartels.
A lot in common with Trump’s world view.
Mad Dog approves...
Bong Go
Won Hung Lo
Where will it all end?
The buck stops on Trump’s desk.
I have a feeling we will be re-opening Clarke.
I love Duterte’s policy on drug dealers. When dealers are willing to sell their mothers to unleash chemical warfare on the population, as far as I’m concerned, they are war criminals. It is called a war on drugs is it not!
It’s still better than Obongo.
“Washington’s utter failure to uphold its obligations to a longtime, pivotal ally during one of its most humiliating crises has no doubt contributed to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s low opinion of American security guarantees and his recent move toward a China alliance,” they wrote.
Some experts, however, say Duterte’s appointment of special envoys to Washington suggest that despite his hostility, he intends to keep good ties.
Among those envoys is multi-millionaire real estate tycoon Jose Antonio, who bought the rights to name a new office tower in Manila “Trump Towers”.
Planet Trump :)
The head of the Davao Death squad is a hero here?
Comparing him to Trump?
You want Trump to start murdering American citizens if he suspects them of using drugs?
I thought we’re on the team that likes the Constitution.
Isn’t this the same guy who called Obama a S.O.B.?
Hahahahahaha!! Trump is playing this so very well. Rubbing noses in their messes.
“Son of Whore.” Actually Bastard Son of a Whore would be more accurate.
