Not surprising to me. Deterte seems like sort of a Filipino version of Trump. Not necessarily a complete ally or clone, but he is to the Philippines what Trump is to the U.S.

A nutcase to be sure but a true leader will take each world leader as they come and deal with them man-to-man, or man-to-woman as the case may be and not take backhanded, pussified shots like our current failed president.
He’s a nationalist that fights Islamists and wants to make his country better by fighting criminals and drug cartels.
